Very funny this! One of the most horrendous DEFEATS in modern HISTORY! Ran away cowardly leaving all their military equipment behind! ![]()

The military equipment was left behind not out of cowardice but through the misjudgment that the Afghani army would use it to stand and fight against the Taliban, instead of running away and surrendering.

Yes of course! Like Vietnam flying off the top of the embassy after the rice farmers taught you all a lesson! ![]()

I don't deny that our twenty-year occupation of Afghanistan was a mistake. After 9/11, we should have gone into that country, busted things up until we defeated the Taliban and caught bin Laden--then said adios. None of that Republican nation-building bullshit. But I don't just blame the Republicans. Every president from Bush to Biden didn't have the brains or backbone to end the problem.

Afghanistan was not a failed state. We had a very small force and used a smaller force to end the Taliban’s control of the state. There were 13,000 US military personnel in Afghanistan when Biden ordered the withdrawal negotiated by the Taliban. And, when the Taliban made that withdrawal chaos, I would have stopped the withdrawal and made them bleed white. Then left. I would not have betrayed what had been built on Afghanistan. Much like W. Europe, S. Korea it would have existed so long as we cared. The one problem I see would have been Iran getting involved in a Taliban offensive.

Some people will tell you that those "rice farmers" were some of the finest combat infantry in the world.

It takes a special kind of moron to believe that the Afghan army would continue to fight the Taliban, who in a matter of months would have been handed control of their country, their weapons and their paychecks. A friend of mine was in ARVN at the end, Their officers told them to ditch their uniforms and weapons, and go home. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. Carl Schurz (1829 - 1906)

That and the fact that it would have been more expensive to transport it all back to the United States versus leaving it. It's not like you can drive a HUMVEE from Afghanistan to the US. Every single piece of equipment would have to have been airlifted out.

Ok. Enough excuses for leaving everything behind. Now can anyone please explain to me why you lot picked a draft dodging coward to be your president??
