. . . don’t be too offended Steve, Trump says that supporters of Harris are “scum” and “absolute garbage”. But we always knew Trump was an equal opportunity insulter. I guess Harris is responsible for what Biden says, but Trump is not responsible for what Trump says. Probably best that way since Trump has no control over his rectum called a mouth.

I considered starting a new thread, but this one seems close enough.

I can relate to something Scott said - reconsidering often, but I always circle back.

I see that Trump supporters stay steadfast, but I don't see any reconsideration.

I've decided that I'm never going to understand why Trump was nominated and especially why this election is close.

I haven't seen one good reason to vote for Trump. Reasons stated can easily be refuted as either not being factual or not good enough or there's more relevant info not being considered.

Here's an article:

https://www.usatoday.com/story...flation/75836771007/

Opinion: I don't like Trump, but I'm voting for him. Here's why many Americans will, too.
We are a nation suffering from the lingering pain of inflation, with a growing and unsustainable debt, in a world where wars threaten to break into global conflict. We can't afford to stay the course.

The author is Texan. I say that because I think it's relevant.

Two points of rebuttal - what's wrong with progressivism? Beats regressivism IMO.

She mentioned the economy. She said she HOPES Trump doesn't implement his tariff plan. (That's an example of not good enough.)

She didn't mention a pandemic plan at all or support for science. But deregulation is good, presumably despite science.

Did you know that Trump wanted the Fed Reserve decisions to be directly under his control?

Of course he knows everything better than anyone so why not? Roll Eyes Project 2025 will fix all that.

Search question: Is the federal reserve independent?

Answer: Yes, the Federal Reserve is independent within the government. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 established the Federal Reserve as an independent central bank that is accountable to Congress but free from political interference. The Fed's independence is designed to ensure that monetary policy decisions are based on data and analysis, rather than short-term political considerations.

Since my post above I have watched and partially watched/listened to several commentaries on YouTube, the usual sources excluding Fox.

What I'm looking for is sanity or hope that this will all be okay.

I know that many find something in Fox that they like (for lack of a better term). but I find only angst there.

This is the closest I found that works for me. I had other options, but it does no good to flood the zone.

This one IMO is worthy of watching the whole video:

https://youtu.be/onuOn96Iats?si=k4awbyCt0c3RaaOQ

Brooks and Capehart on PBS 2 hrs ago

One especially interesting part is when Brooks talks about his recent visit to a church and what the preacher said. That's not an isolated example.

=============================================

My second choice:

https://youtu.be/lynsmoXZN6E?si=SdbeIBMS4gcf6Lmg

Nicolle Wallace calls on her former boss, George W. Bush to break silence on 2024 Election

==========================================

Okay, I said that I didn't want to flood the zone, but the following video is just too good to ignore, IMO. It doesn't offer the reassurance I would like but I think it's rational and realistic.

This is something you won't see on Fox:

Where do you stand in regard to free will and choice?

Are you going to let an old man with dementia own you?

Oh wait - you already did that with supporting Trump.

Moynihan describes himself as libertarian, and his previous employment was for the left leaning Vice media.

Just trying to stay away from claims of bias.
There is enough relevance to why Biden might think it acceptable to call the right garbage. And addresses why The democrats are in the position they are in.

It’s great to see all these Trumplicans get in touch with their sensitive side. After calling Biden all sorts of names, rattling on about senility, they get butt hurt over the word garbage . . . a term the Orange Jesus loves to use referring to others in his lexicon of hate. Maybe this means we are starting to see a softer side of the Trump cheerleaders. And oh, by the way, what does anything Biden says have to do with Harris.

Harris is the candidate. She owns her words. She does not own Biden’s words. And Trump definitely owns his own words. Like when he referred to Harris supporters as “scum” and “trash”, when he mocked the handicapped, when he calls former members of his team as worthless idiots, etc. If we want to make this race about who is worst trash talker and who shows the most contempt for his fellow citizens, is there any question as to who the winner would be? The question is Harris or Trump and nothing else.

Does Biden have a firm command on what comes out of his mouth? I don't think so and that's why he's out.

Now we've been advised repeatedly to ignore what comes out of Trump's mouth, so why are we concerned with what Biden says?

Or, if we're holding Biden and the Democrats to task for Joe's words, why are we not concerned with The Donald's mouth?

So if I understand the situation, Biden is a senile old fool who can't keep his trap shut and therefore is unfit for command. On the other hand Trump is a senile old fool who can't keep his trap shut and therefore is not only fit for command, but is also the one and only savior for our nation and way of life.

I knew I'd eventually catch on

for what ever reason Trump gets away with it... Maybe... 4 days will tell.

Its hard on these forums to ask a question without being presumed to be an opposition supporter. Even if you have to say you are not 1000 times.

Im surprised I havnt been accused of false equivalence yet.

It was still stupid from the president of your nation, and an indictment on him still being there if hes as senile as he seems. Which is too me an Indictment oon the choices of the democratic party leadership.

Yes yes all. Ditto for republican choices..

The sitting president doesn't represent his party? The sitting president doesn't represent his people?

And yet, he is still in office, calling the shots, making press appearances, etc?

Then why is he sitting in the most powerful seat in the world?

And he was "sharp as a tack" despite all his gaffes, sleeping episodes, etc. the entire time he was running for reelection.... Right up until the debate made that lie too obvious to hide?

Sorry Scott, but it just doesn't sit right. You can't have it both ways.

For too long both sides have played this game. Look where that nonsense has got us: we get to choose between Trump, arguably(?) our most sleazy president(so far), and Harris, an empty vessel, a younger more hip version of Biden, a person who, like Biden, will never be tasked with making any real decisions.

Not like you or I will cast a vote that matters anyway, as Trump will run away with Alaska 3 electoral votes.

Cause Oliver, the gay Libertarian, will be the beneficiary of my protest vote. I find myself more in line with his views than either of those other two cocksuckers. The irony......

Mike -

In a sane world, you'd be correct. But this political environment just isn't sane. Two bad choices. One is better for the countries prosperity and safety than the other. It is merely a coin toss to decide which one fits that narrative.

I feel Trump is less damaging than do you. But I can certainly understand someone (you) feeling otherwise.

To my point; In America, Political Party solidarity is the new Patriotism, so in that sense, She IS responsible for his words or at least must support them.

No different than the multitudes of posts in here comparing other Republicans and holding Trump accountable for their actions. There is LOTS of Elon Musk comments and trying to tie them to Trump.

Only if you let it be that way Steve, I refuse to support a corrupt politician just because he is Republican.

It not “letting it be that way,” it is reality.

If Democrats didn’t 99.99% of the time vote on party lines supporting the party’s platform…you might have an argument. But they do so you don’t.

You mean the same way Republicans vote party line?

Your team is just as responsible as the other side.

I refuse to be aligned with either, just like I refuse to support someone as corrupt as Trump.

Had a GOP nominated a moderate, they would have received my vote, they nominated the most corrupt Indvidual to ever run for office, I'll pass thanks.
