I cannot see the link.

Two observations:

GOP Speaker afraid two pass either bills to find US allies and address the broader you scream about, you go find this silliness that affects no one. Classic Far Right Kook play. Let us pick a personal issue that affects nothing important.

This does not matter and affects you and I zero.

I would be using this distraction of my political support was to allow a women to nearly die with a dead fetus inside her in Texas.

If my policies considered frozen zygote a human making folks trying to have children criminals, I would be trying to distract.

If I had spent the last 8 years screaming about a broader only to refuse a vote on a serious bill that passed the Senate, I would be trying to distract.

If my policies were to not send aid to our allies faced w wars of aggression by our traditional opponents, I would be trying to distract.

If my policies had caused a women in Ohio who had a miscarriage to be prosecuted, I would care about the above.

Go invoke the wrath of God some more. I would be fearful if I were you types, but I know you are not.

Typical Republican "Look over there!" bullshit when the charade of an impeachment inquiry is rapidly falling apart and a government shutdown looms and your House Speaker just HAD to have a two-week vacation so he could go hit his knees at Mar-A-Lago.

And we have schools putting litter boxes in the bathrooms for the “furries” here, although they will not publicly admit that.

One mother was defending it and saying her daughter was a cat. Giving her a copy of the statutes surrounding animals on other peoples land and the point that harassing other livestock makes them legal to be shot got her to shockedly admit that her daughter isn’t a cat…. (She likes to go up to animals and play with them, even not her own. Iirc she’s like 9-10 years old.)

The left’s willingness to accept any “identification” without question is also a problem, regardless of what you think about the right’s issue with regards to transgenderism.

As one in medicine, your comments that the hormone and surgical treatments are “standard of care” for gender dysphoria is not a universal or even fully majority point of view. They are positions put forward by some of the academic bodies.

I agree that it should be between the physician and the patient, and that governmental involvement (or legal involvement) into that issue should be curtailed.

The issue is way more complex than either side of the debate want to admit.

Show evidence of ONE school providing litter boxes for "furries. JUST ONE!

It ain't happening. Some schools have litter as an emergency measure for the not-infrequent lockdowns they experience and Republicans have twisted that into the "furry" lie, which you are repeating.

Admit it's a damned lie or show your proof, Doctor.

It isn’t a lie, I’ve had parents tell me that their kids point it out.

The schools deny it.

I have no overt proof of them doing it, ie a picture identifiable as a school with a litter box for human use, or a school admitting to it.

Never said I had verified proof.

I have seen kids who “think” they are a cat or dog at times.

Sounds like pretend to me. And none of my concern or political concern.

As long as classroom instruction is not interrupted, there is nothing in this.

If classroom instruction is disrupted, discipline the child for disrupting class. We do that all the time.

Again, we have Dr. Easter dogging up something if no political importance to distract from the failures of his wing of the GOP in real issues.

This means nothing to the impact of any of our lives. However, this is the type of nonsense the Dr. Easter’s want to focus on.

They do not want the focus bring on a Texas women nearly dying w a dying fetus inside her unable to receive care, he told us would not happen.

I recently watched three elementary school staff shepherd one single special ed student down the hallway and out of school at the end of the day. One single student, three school staff.

My very capable and bright daughter is left with the masses to be occasionally instructed by her 1st grade teacher with a class of 15 students while this sped kid gets three babysitters.

What a remarkable use of school staff.

The kid who identifies as a cat should be set to the pound.

What is remarkable to me is that we have fostered a society in our country where crap like this is condoned.

The behavior and rationality expressed in that video are either symptoms of severe mental illness or ignorance and stupidity so great they can’t be overcome.

If our country is to survive…we can’t foster such abnormal behavior. We can’t weave such into the fabric of normal.

Many years ago when in high school, there was one girl who IDed as a cat. She dressed with clothes that emphasized cat-like looks and wore make-up cat-like too. Some other girls joined in, but the one was serious about it. They all grew out of it, last I knew.

When I was working in Colorado a woman I worked with had a daughter who dressed and acted somewhat like a cat. I think that child moved on to other fantasies.

A friend had a girlfriend who IDed as a cat. He encouraged her, dressed her up, acted like a tom cat, and got some pussy. It worked every time. Smiler

Up until some conservatives started making a big deal out of it, there seemed to be no political implications at all.

The sad mother in the video linked in the OP claims she tried to take her daughter to a vet and was refused.

The good thing is that she had the right to try, although obviously screwed-up.

If the GOPers had their way, such mother and child would be punished, sent to the pound, forced to use vet services, denied vote (cats can't vote) or whatever fascist solution they drempt up.

THAT"S the real political implications of this and why it's an issue.

Demonstrate that you have a grip on reality, on any topic, and I'll congratulate you.

Yes, you, the "I see both sides" monger.

Granted, sometimes you border on being correct, and in such cases I don't say anything.

I'll try to find something to congratulate you for in the future. Wink

So, what's the point of making a deal out of youngsters who ID with furries, other than the traditional assessment that the child needs help?

The "point" for many if not most conservatives extends far, far into politics and forced worldview, far beyond the child's needs, which seems to be of little concern for them.

Isn't the point of the above post that each and every case of this dire "abnormal behavior" be rooted out and corrected, for the sake of "our country to survive".

Tell me, where exactly is the existential threat to the country's survival - in reality? Is it the child who IDs as a furrie, or the zealot who wants to deem it a threat to national security?

So, question to you, Mr. both-sides, which "normal" is the least threat, or the flip side - the most harmful?

Which has political trajectory and intent to "weave such into the fabric of normal"?

The above was kind of witty. tu2;

And no, it's not being said that it , "needs to be rooted out and corrected" but it shouldn't be encouraged and defended.

I guess we have a young person at school that is having identity issues. They are not an issue, nobody on any side minds, there's been no bathroom drama o locker room controversy.

In the same vein, if a child that identifies as a cat wants to go to the vet, I think there's smarter ways to handle the situation than taking the kid to the vet. As for the vet, were it me I think id address the mother something along the lines of, "you crazy fucking sow, get your fat ass,......

I have identified as dashing and daring, exceptionally handsome, keenly skilled and a bit of an artistic prodigy for decades. Not only do I not insist everyone goes along with me, but I have not told anyone my identity other than you.

ME, the left is the ones who want to weave non reality based concepts as being “normal”.

Tell me where have I said that something that was not correct was correct.

I pretty clearly said at the beginning of this thread that the schools deny the kitty litter…

Then Jeffive said except for school shooting go buckets… which sounds pretty silly to me… but I don’t doubt that a school said so.

One question I’d ask said school is “is this being used despite no active shooter events?”

Working in a bureaucratic organization, I can guarantee they do things they don’t admit to in public with some regularity.

That we even have a person here that wants to defend this behavior as being acceptable in society is proof of how far down the rabbit hole we have actually gone as a society.

That's just a crazy assessment. So crazy, I shouldn't have to rebut. IMO, it's obviously crazy.

I have not defended the behavior, especially as being acceptable and especially on the scale of society. There is no proof whatsoever that there is a rabbit hole to go down.

That's in part my point. Zealots will dream up existential threats where there isn't one, and completely miss the issue that their dreams and especially their remedies are the threat.

How many children out of 10,000 ID as a furrie? Maybe 5. How in the world can that be a threat to society? I suspect most grow out of it, and maybe move onto something else just as weird. There are weird people everywhere, for different reasons. Some weirdos actually think being an enforced Christian Nation will cure the others they deem weirdos or at least make them go hide.

The crazy mothers with the weirdo children aren't trying to push that on the nation. They don't have lobbyists, or multiple national orgs and think tanks coordinating with each other. They don't have Project 25. They don't have Trump. They don't have MAGA Mike Moses or Gym Jordon. They don't thump the Bible as supporting their cause. They don't have preachers spouting their conflation of church and state BS.

Man…you need to go back and watch that clip again.

It is not the kid I am worried about at all. The kid needs some direction and guidance and will grow out of it. There are no bad kids…just bad parents.

Which leads to the worry. That parent wanted her kid to be treated medically like a cat! She considered legal action to make that happen. That is f***ing looney tunes. And not only that…it is child endangerment.

It is the attitude of the adult which ‘should’ trouble you.

No proof of rabbit-holes? Well I guess it depends on the definition and context.

I my case it is a metaphor for societal degradation that has a point of no return. No proof that occurs??? Well go try to find some 2023 denari.

A few years ago at a cook-out. I was talking to an assistant principal at a medium sized school. She said they had a woman move to town and enroll her daughter at the school. Her daughter was "a cat". The word was the mother had sued everyone she could find over anything. The school had a litterbox in the custodians closet. They girl had to report she wanted to use the bathroom, the custodian would place the box in the bathroom.
The girl never made any friends, mother never had anyone to sue, they moved on after a semester.
Was the principal BS-ing me? Dont know, dont care, nothing that affected me. The only report I ever heard first hand about it.

It amazes me that people get so spun up over such stupid shit. Some whacko posts a whacko video on instagram and the world as we know it has ended?

Who cares? The world has always been filled with nuts. The difference today is that they have a platform to be nutty on that allows them to reach millions of people.
