A crash has occurred at Marana Regional Airport, 11700 W. Avra Valley Road, Wednesday morning, KGUN 9 has confirmed with airport personnel.

According to a social media post by Marana Police Department, one person is confirmed dead. MPD refers to the crash as an "aircraft collision."

KGUN 9's Blake Phillips has learned from the Town of Marana that this was a plane crash. The FAA and NTSB are investigating, Marana spokespeople say.

Were they VFR or IFR, in controlled airspace or not? A total of 400 of the 45,000 FAA employees have been released, not one a controller is my understanding

Here’s a partial answer. The airfield has no tower.
TDS is so sad.

When the FAA was fully-staffed, Pete was the Secretary of Transportation and there had been no intrusions into the computer systems by people with vastly more experience coding video games than government service, planes weren't colliding and landing upside down and crashing multiple times a week.

Perhaps it's coincidence, or perhaps the Easter Bunny has a hard-on for aviation all of a sudden and is swatting planes out of the air, or maybe, just maybe, like paying $44 billion for Twitter when it was valued at $10,000,000,000, Elon Musk has no idea what he's doing.

Except the atc has been short staffed for decades... sigh, when you actually hit something factual we'll be surprised. You might read up on it, and the lowering of the bar under which presidents. This is just as idiotic as your 400million cybertruck fumbduckery

How many flight hours do you have, SARGE? Me, just a bit under 200 VFR hours, in every type of airport, except military.. from private strip on a farm to landing at IAH.. my home field is tower controlled, but the 30odd fields in the area aren't.

You stating the atc was fully staffed under pothole pet is an utter lie

Oh, and zero atc have been removed in the last month...

Do you wear a bib while frothing at the mouth and sky screaming...

TDS, of course, only allows two conclusions:
Whatever the hell is happening,
1. It’s bad if Trump breathed in that direction and
2. It’s all Trump’s fault.

BTW, you TDS sufferers should read the below:

Perhaps gather your facts before making broad accusations.

You also do realize the Toronto crash wasn't being controlled by the FAA. Marana is uncontrolled. Too many PPL practice TnG's with no tower.

You overlooked that more than 3 times as many died in just one of Trump's crashes than all ten of Biden's, and Trump hasn't been in office but 2 1/2 weeks, he's on pace to catch up in crash numbers with far more lives lost.

And Biden didn't make drastic changes without knowing what he was doing.

You do realize, the military chopper pilot ignored the order to get in behind the jet, right?

You fail to understand that even the CEO of a major airline has given Trumps FAA high marks? He also says the 400 cuts have zero effect on safety.

Are you truly unaware that most probably neither Biden nor Trump had anything to do with any of the recent crashes. Or am I right that facts don’t matter and you are just hellbent and programmed to blame Trump for every-damn-thing from bird shit on your windshield to two Army pilot most likely having their eyeballs up and locked.

You’re using up joy with hate. You can oppose Trump as a reasonable person. Defaulting to hate just isn’t healthy.

Why you gonna call out the steaming pile that pothole pete left...

You did forget to mention that not a single atc was let go and they have been short staffed for years...

and you included Toronto.. you are aware that Toronto isn't under American atc control, right?

Perfect marks, again. What a streak

“Throughout the year (2024), 1,415 aviation accidents were reported, including 257 fatal incidents. Of the 179 fatal incidents that Newsweek obtained records of, there were 306 reported deaths. The deadliest incident was a Pilatus aircraft crash in Recluse, Wyoming, which killed six of the seven people on board, including the pilot.”

I’m sure you can make those 1,415 accidents Trump’s fault.

One more time. 45,000 FAA employees. 400 probational employees terminated. Not one was a controller. No “buy out” was offered qualified controllers to discourage early retirement.

BTW, I have a commercial, multi-engine, instrument land and sea rating with several thousand hours. I qualified as NATOPS officer and post-maintenance test pilot.
I also qualified and taught as an instructor in the Navy’s Radar Intercept school and also taught airborne navigation there.

I’m not speculating with bitterness.

Here is the thing. This is not President Trump’s fault. Staffing issues and congestion have been a game of Russian roulette for awhile now.

It is President Trump’s job to fix. If he does, good job Mr. President. If he does not, condemn him.
