Trump's stupid statement is par for the course, for him. On the other hand, it is interesting that Friedman refers to batteries as being renewable resources. There is no monopoly on stupidity. | |||

Read the quote - pretty stupid on batteries .. those literally are the KEY for wind and solar (and hydro?) being viable - you can't store generated power any other way - The first time this thing happened, 2017? might have been 2016, electricity in Texas brief dipped into negative value -- yes, they producers were paying the grid to take the power, as it was really windy across Texas (we are the largest wind power in the country) and that the power generated couldn't be "vented off" it had to go into the grid -- had we had battery farms, like Oz, we could have stored it and sold it later, rather than flooding the market. Solar works about entirely off invertors (from DC) to supply direct AC to stuff, or is stored through a charger into a battery (storage) array, and is converted on use via an invertor - that's how solar works, it can't power your home DIRECTLY, it has to be pooled, stored, and converted to AC with the paired hysteresis/parasitical loss and lead/sulfur batteries, while inefficient, are the predominant residential battery solution, and ARE renewable -- it's just environmentally nearly as ugly as recycling EVs - but less risk of fire opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I get emails from my electricity provider 24-48 hrs in advance - plug you car in at a certain time and have free electricity. Evidently wind or solar supply is forecast to exceed demand and they just give it away. Overnight the cost drops to about a quarter of the day rate as wind and nuclear are producing but demand is low. | |||
