For Sambo's sake, TB40, I get your argument. You think I'm distorting or skewing the meanings or definitions of Fascism. I don't think so.

I use the word seriously, with specific meanings that fall in the category, historically and presently.

The DeSantis Doctrine
Story by Matthew Continetti • 3h ago

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...bfed5aec4c7ff9&ei=17

(excerpts)

Musk might as well have been the candidate — and there is reason to think that, but for the Constitution, he would be.

For the contest between former president Donald Trump and DeSantis is not just over who will lead the GOP. It is also a struggle between two concepts of the New Right, pitting the former president’s MAGA populism against the Florida governor’s institutional culture war.

What’s important to recognize is that, despite his personal idiosyncrasies, Trump is an archetypal American figure.

DeSantis’s attitude isn’t the “LOL nothing matters” or “burn it all down” mentality you find among some MAGA devotees. He isn’t anti-institutional. He wants to use the institution he controls — government — to rescue or defang other institutions consumed by wokeness. He came across less as a populist than a shrewd technocrat. The choice of topics highlighted his culture war against progressives.

For all the oddity and embarrassment of the launch event, I couldn’t help thinking that it might be a sign of the future. This was the post-2020 Right on display. The events of 2020 radicalized a portion of the New Right and sped up its rejection of politics-as-usual and its embrace of state power. The aftermath of 2020 sent Elon Musk on a journey from Biden voter to staunch Republican.

In my local environment…I am thought of as a moderate by my peers. But, I will agree I am a strong right-winger.

However, if I was classified as fringe…that would put you ME so far out on the tip of the fringe…you are dangling by a thread.

I interact politically quite often and you are one of the more fringe (left) people I have ever conversed with. Albeit…I still believe you have a good heart.

I have listed about 10 of your policies that are fringe.

No less then your position on Party as politics itself.

Again, you are in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. Maybe your circle you are not fringe or moderate, but not the area.

Just bc you hang a people less fringe does not mean you are not fringe.

Recent elections show how fringe your views on abortion, marriage, rights to contraception, the application of the Equality Amendments, the role of church in state, firearms, President Trump, and superiority of your class, are fringe.

The problem is when people like you start to become fringe, then we are close to Germany.

We can only hope you are not the national majority. I think you are not. I do not think of your as Conservative. Hence, the use of the word Faction.

We know what fascism is, as Mussolini wrote the book on it, literally. There is no re-classification of it. If Kabob wanted to say some of the fringe right have aspects of fascism, I'd say hell yes. But he claims it to be, by someone else say so, that it is fascism.

We have entered a real scary time

The Evangelical Right believe it is God Ordained that they control government and shape government to their will. This is by extension God’s Will.

It is not fringe bc the right people believe it. It is neo-Confederacy in that the lies of the Old Constitution are causing us a great sickness proven by gay people, trans people, and the majority rejecting the Dobbs decision That we need a government of the right kind of people for the right kind of people.

We hear it in our friends being scared.

The problem is not Trump. It has never been about Trump. It is about relitigating and electioning to a world that never existed.

He told me as a juror he decides what was admissible evidence. No you do not.

In the written GOP Platform of Texas is a position to overturn the 13-15th Amendments because those Amendments prevent them from in acting their state Ethiopia. They cannot fathom they would ever be in the minority bc they are right and with God.

They cannot stand the 14th Amendment is what incorporates the Bill of Rights against state action including the Second. They forget in 1871, Texas banned handguns.

These people are the professional minority that joins with each jobs that create revolution. We saw it on Jan 6.

Dr. Easter only difference then those who attacked our Republic on Jan 6 us he just talks where the Jan 6 took illegal and stupid action.

Dr. Easter is no more not better a US Citizen than gay Americans, trans Americans, female Americans, African Americans, Democrat Americans, Liberal Americans, Muslim Americans, or Atheist Americans.

The fact he says “The Republican deserves the benefit of the doubt. The Democrat is a reprobate by virtue of being a Democrat” condemns Dr. Easter has a reprobate.

The fact he calls Paxton a viable political option while calling marriage equality the ruin of the country dams himself.

The Fact he agrees with forcing 10 year old children to give birth and women who are made sterile by giving birth shoes him as fringe.

And the removal of books about a middle school girl going through puberty, or a boy realizing he is gay, and The David is fascist.

Now we have heym using fascism instead of aspects of.
A big part of fascism was each industry was individual, and run by a strong union. Tell me what R's support that?
Wealth distribution was another, with France and Belgium factions wanting money, and Polands wanting land redistributed. Was that part of Desantis's plan?
Only political scientists get into Fascism. All the teachers, and opinion writers, media take sections they like.
conservative writers call fascism, socialist and populist.
The libs dont like that Fascism still had a capitalist side. Secular libs say it was roman catholic driven. Mussolini was against anti jewish side of communism, until he needed aid from Germany.
Fascism is such a convoluted mix it will not fit under one label you dimwits are trying to use it for.

Such a regime could be both. There's no shortage of historical examples.

It would help my poor neurons if someone would give a succinct definition, or provide the characteristics of, fascism. The word's been thrown around here so much that I'm getting confused.

Doc Butler, I believe you're wrong about Japan, which had no free elections until after US occupation at the end of WWII. Before that, Japan was a military dictatorship headed by the Emperor.

I thought they had a parliament (the Diet) which was supposed to be the civil authority.

Tojo was elected prime minister.

You are right that the parliament was subservient to the Emperor, but the post war belief was that Hirohito was much more a pawn of the militant politicians than the other way around.

How true it is, I suspect we will never know.

But the Japanese did have "free" elections.

As to a combination of Fascism and Theocracy, its not possible. In Fascism, the state is all. In a theocracy, god, as represented by the ruling body of the church is all.

A theocracy that is totalitarian is truly a horrible prospect. That there have been numerous examples of.

Theocracy vs Fascism - What's the difference?

https://wikidiff.com/fascism/theocracy

As nouns the difference between theocracy and fascismis that theocracy is government under the control of a state-sponsored religion.

fascism is a political regime, having totalitarian aspirations, ideologically based on a relationship between business and the centralized government, business-and-government control of the market place, repression of criticism or opposition, a leader cult and exalting the state and/or religion above individual rights. Originally only applied (usually capitalized) to Benito Mussolini's Italy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_fascism

Christian fascism is a term which is used to describe a far-right political ideology that denotes an intersection between fascism and Christianity. It is sometimes referred to as "Christofascism"

American history and politics

Chris Hedges and David Neiwert contend that the origins of American Christofascism date back to the Great Depression, when Americans first espoused forms of fascism that were "explicitly 'Christian' in nature".[10]: 88  Hedges writes that "fundamentalist preachers such as Gerald B. Winrod and Gerald L. K. Smith fused national and Christian symbols to advocate the country's first crude form of Christo-fascism".[11] Smith's Christian Nationalist Crusade stated that a "Christian character is the basis of all real Americanism".[11] Hedges also believes that William Dudley Pelley was another prominent advocate of Christofascism.[10]: 88  Nonetheless, some historians contend the presence of Christian fascism in the Antebellum United States.[12]

In the late 1950s, some adherents of these philosophies founded the John Birch Society, whose policy positions and rhetoric have greatly influenced modern dominionists.[11] Likewise, the Posse Comitatus movement was founded by former associates of Pelley and Smith.[10]: 90  The 1980s saw the founding of the Council for National Policy[11] and the Moral Majority,[13][14] two organizations which carried on the tradition, while the patriot and militia movements represented efforts to mainstream the philosophy in the 1990s.[10]: 90

Incidents of anti-abortion violence, including the Atlanta and Birmingham bombings which were committed by Eric Rudolph and the assassination of George Tiller at his Wichita, Kansas church in 2009, have also been considered acts which were motivated by Christofascism.[10]: 90–91 [15]

Usage of the term caused controversy in 2007 when Melissa McEwan, a campaign blogger for then-presidential candidate John Edwards, referred to religious conservatives as "Christofascists" on her personal blog.[16][17]

https://www.urbandictionary.co...?term=Christofascist

Christofascists

Christian religious extremist believes in forcing a right-wing Christian agenda

Since many Christofascists bristle at the term 'fundamentalist' there has been a movement to get the media to refer to them as 'evangelicals.' However the term 'evangelical' is a misleading one as many Christian sects are evangelical in nature and not all evangelical Christians have such extremem views or political agendas. Christofascist is a more descriptive term for these right-wing extremists.

It's not just Individuals. It's groups of individuals, when they bunch up. The consequences are cult-like, on a national scale.

And where do they get such a notion?

That little voice in their head?

Their preachers?

These fundamentalist/evangelical preachers are teaching that Christianity is not a religion. Instead, it's a personal relationship with Jesus or God.

They actually believe they have a direct link (mental) to God, who directs them, sanctions them and their everyday. They actually believe that conflating religion and politics is (their) God ordained.

Where are the boundaries? Certainly not in the secular Constitution and Rule of Law.

Why do you think Trump pretended to be Christian, God ordained, clutching a Bible?

Why do you think Trump appointed such a crazy person, Paula White?

Why do you think Trump took the photo-op of him hugging the flag?

Why do you think his fulcrum to the WH in 2016 was mostly from Christian support? And they still wholeheartedly support him.

Why do you think they still support him, and believe his lies, or not, despite the evidence he's faking them, using them? It's because they think he's their path to most of their agenda, an ungodly means to an end, justified because they believe their "end" is sanctioned. They are blind to other paths.

How can supposedly godly ends mesh with ungodly means?

This is what Christian Fascism looks like.

Trump was a prototype. DeSantis is Trump II or Trump 102.
