You are right on here. It may take a little digging to get it in the right format but it's likely there. The equation uses a span of time and the extremes of rainfall within the span to estimate future extremes in a longer timespan.

I think it also has limited application in stock market estimation, although stock market conditions aggregate differently than those for weather.

I think you are right, that the rain fall algorithmic were a foundation for stock models. Time studies with ranges is fun... I was using histogram when I was technical trading. Then the candlestick models came out, which were eye opening


Truth is, this same thing happened in like may 2015... I was on the rocks at perdernales with my youngest daughter when it started. We nearly go stuck in cross ground flooding and almost just slept in the car on the highest spot I knew. But found a path out. Wimberley was nearly wiped out. 200 year old cottonwoods and cypress trees ripped up

Texans don't fear much, but cross ground flooding makes us all remember something we need to do, a couple counties over
