Republicans are always trying to manufacture conspiracy theories. What if there was no cover-up of Biden's apparent cognitive decline? What if those who knew him were simply in denial? The way relatives and friends are often in denial when a loved one begins to decline. What if he just had a bad debate night? His speeches thereafter showed much better cognition and awareness. All I can say is that Biden did abysmally in the debate, and because he did he rightly withdrew from the race. Facing another four years of accusations, averments, and jokes about his mental condition could not have been a pleasant prospect. Let him retire and go fishing. | |||

I hope that shankspony is reading all this. There are several ways to deflect and ruin a thread topic. One is the way you do it, shanks, which really isn't so bad comparatively. But jeffesso takes it to a level that's bad IMO. There are several elements to the process, which is really all about control or dominance, and put the other side in defense mode. Deny the offense by throwing in a few sly choice lies, then obfuscate to bewilder and double-down. Then make it personal. All of it, of course deflects the thread, changes the premise to dominate vs defend about nonsense. Generally it happens when the deflector knows his argument is weak and lost. It's a baited trap. Trying the reasonable defense mode is futile. It really can't be flipped. You can see that I tried, sorta politely. I refuse to be baited into getting really nasty. I don't appreciate the name-calling, hypocrite. I don't know all the tricks, but I can recognize some of them. Basically, the "tricks" are deviation from normal, respectful debate or discussion protocol. I realize this is just a forum, and formal protocol is not expected. But it's reasonable to expect decency, set the tone, especially from a moderator. Remember, I've participated a long time. I've made lots of mistakes. I've been guilty of making it personal and finally realized that's a mistake. Of course I resent having it done to me as well. staying on-topic is very important, so I try and consider it a priority. When someone breaks from that with the intent to put someone on defense, it's easy to recognize. Been there, done that - it takes one to know one sorta thing. I e try to answer this as someone who lived through it. My Adopted Father’s decline was very fast. He went fro normal, to that is odd, to evening time completely irrational with him being rational during the day, to irrational all the time in the span of less than 6 months. For better and worse he passed during that less than 6 month span. Add to this the weight and aging of the Offhvd as an explanation. I will say again, if President Biden is too old to run for the Office, he is too old to be President today. I have no confidence in his cognitive abilities. The presidency is not a 10 to 4 job. | |||

The statement “Makes her move against Trump” is not appropriate. Up until sentencing, a Judge makes no personal move against a defendant. A judge is a neutral arbitrator of the law. Judge Chutkan is not making a move against Trump. She is applying the law within her discretion. Such statements as Makes her move against Trump” only fuels the lie profiteering that Trump is being targeted unjustly by the Judicial Branch. You are cutting your own throat w such statements. A prosecutor prosecuted the case. A judge does not. A judge applies law. There is no personal that enters into it until sentencing.
