The hardest solution to arrive at is the one neither leadership wants. The single most powerful weapon Hamas has is television footage of dead or dying Palestinians, and if twent have to die and 50 suffer for every one that gets on TV that's a price Hamas is willing to pay.

Netanyahu facilitated the movement of literal suitcases of cash from Qatar to Gaza to keep Hamas in business, including, inevitably, some or all of the weapons used on October 7.
