With the usual people getting fucked over by republicans....while adding trillions to the debt. But, hey....Lane gets his tax cut. ![]() "But the legislation, which passed 215-214-1 after marathon talks, carries a hefty price tag. The latest projection from Congressional Budget Office, lawmakers’ nonpartisan bookkeeper, showed it will add $2.4 trillion over 10 years to the national debt, which already exceeds $36 trillion. To offset the cost, the measure would slash spending on social safety net programs by more than $1 trillion over 10 years. Even then, the mammoth legislation could also force nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare over the next decade to keep the national deficit within legal limits, unless Congress later adjusts the limits. The legislation could strip Medicaid coverage from 8.7 million people and lead to 7.6 million more uninsured people over 10 years, CBO projected." https://www.washingtonpost.com...l-house-republicans/

The Budget may passed by a hair's breadth but nevertheless passed, which reminds me of the saying: "a miss is as good as a mile". Talk more about the $36 trillion debt and who was responsible for that and less about a predicted $2.4 trillion.

I'll be happy to talk about it. Here's what happened the last time trump was POTUS. He ran up over 20% of our current debt in just four years. "The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country." https://www.propublica.org/art.../national-debt-trump

And the remaining $28 trillion Trump inherited? What about the Ukraine war effort ... funding stopped or "back-handing" still alive and well? Whether the Dems or the Reps, they all spooning from the honey jar so quite pointless taking aim at a single individual.

Really? You’re going to claim that a significant part of the debt is from helping Ukraine? Wow. Look up “brainwashed Kool-aid drinker” in a dictionary and there’s a picture of you.

Nothing can be done about the 36 trillion already accrued, (a goodly portion by this same president) until a decision is made to quit spending more than is brought in. Common people across the country understand this. Plainly, Trump does not. That's not true of course. He understands perfectly. He just chooses to be a deficit spender. What the hell, it's not his money. In his mind, wasting money is just fine, as long as you waste it on the right stuff or in the right places. It's also fine to siphon off what you can along the way. He doesn't mind debt at all. This is largely why he and the banker, Mark Carney, are such a perfect match. They think the same. Bill

Not defending the budget but can we stop the drama on on the mixed timing effects? Let me be clear I don't believe these numbers and would expect them to be much higher 0.240T per year, as the 2.4 is over 10 years, not per year That would mean 38t+0.24t per year, not 2.4T 10 times That would be the lowest deficit spend in i don't know how long, 2001? I don't believe these numbers and would expect them to be much higher opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? OK, take a breath. Unless people have more info than fact check.... The dept of energy and commerce is in charge of finding cuts. Medicaid falls under E & C dept, but nothing has been targeted. Climate change falls under their header also, I would feel confident in saying that is going to take a hit. But getting worked up about "possible" cuts to this and that, until we know, is playing Kabob.

I understand we're not looking at the final version of what may be passed but you can't deny that Medicaid has been targeted by the republicans to pay for keeping trump's tax cuts in place. All I know is what I read: >>>>Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced legislation Wednesday afternoon containing cuts to Medicaid and health care provisions — some of the most controversial and contentious provisions that will be included in the “big, beautiful bill” of President Trump’s ambitious legislative agenda. The panel voted along party lines 30-24 after a marathon meeting that lasted more than 26 hours with just two breaks for House votes. The bill now heads to the House Budget Committee, which will meet Friday morning to combine it with legislation from other committees advancing Trump’s priorities — namely the extension of tax cuts and new tax breaks for tips and overtime pay The Energy and Commerce Committee was tasked with finding $880 billion in savings over a decade, and much of that came from cuts to Medicaid spending. The GOP plan calls for states to impose work requirements on childless adults ages 19 to 64, with certain exemptions. It puts a stop to a longstanding practice of states levying taxes on health providers to pay for their Medicaid programs and to boost their federal match. It would penalize states that pay for Medicaid for those who entered the country without authorization. It also codifies changes proposed by the Trump administration to shorten the Affordable Care Act’s open enrollment period, among many other provisions. The provisions would result in 10.3 million people losing Medicaid coverage by 2034 and 7.6 million people going uninsured, according to a partial analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).<<<<< The provisions would result in 10.3 million people losing Medicaid coverage by 2034 and 7.6 million people going uninsured, according to a partial analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). https://thehill.com/policy/hea...d-bill-trump-agenda/

This is significant: https://youtube.com/shorts/4sM...?si=1_1OoCcWrtrLX-W8 https://www.nytimes.com/2025/0...O25aa&smid=url-share Republican Bill Would Limit Judges’ Contempt Power Excerpt: Democrats have argued that House Republicans’ measure would rob courts of their power by stripping away any consequences for officials who ignore judges’ rulings. The sprawling domestic policy bill Republicans pushed through the House on Thursday would limit the power of federal judges to hold people in contempt, potentially shielding President Trump and members of his administration from the consequences of violating court orders. Republicans tucked the provision into the tax and spending cut bill at a time when they have moved aggressively to curb the power of federal courts to issue injunctions blocking Mr. Trump’s executive actions. It comes as federal judges have opened inquiries about whether to hold the Trump administration in contempt for violating their orders in cases related to its aggressive deportation efforts. It is not clear whether the provision can survive under special procedures Republicans are using to push the legislation through Congress on a simple majority vote. Such bills must comply with strict rules that require that all of their components have a direct effect on federal revenues. But by including it, Republicans were seeking to use their major policy bill to weaken federal judges. Under the rules that govern civil lawsuits in the federal courts, federal judges are supposed to order a bond from a person seeking a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction. The language in the House-passed bill would block federal judges from enforcing their contempt citations if they had not previously ordered a bond, a provision that Republicans said was intended to discourage frivolous lawsuits by requiring a financial stake from those suing. Representative Jim Jordan, the Ohio Republican who chairs the Judiciary Committee, said the provision was also meant to target cases involving nationwide injunctions. ************* Trump lied, consequently People died.
