I could be wrong in my thinking about this but I think "insurrection" is plural in character. Individuals may be accused of assault or treason or vandalism, or other crimes. Still, there is an argument to be made about the number of participants. It's worth a discussion. The intent of J6 seems to fall somewhere between protest and insurrection. Let's say that in a different light. A portion of the crowd at the "protest" event on 1/6 did not participate, nor intended to participate in the invasion of the capitol. That may be because they couldn't fit any more bodies inside. Those who did participate intended that from the get go, and came prepared. It wasn't spontaneous. And they had a specific goal - to stall/thwart the certification, move Pence to who-know-where, Alaska or Timbuctoo, and take it to congress to decide. OK, I worded that poorly, my point was that, assuming you are not wearing blinkers, the violence comes from both sides, which the OP cannot seem to grasp. There are numerous other examples. That interview where trump said that there were fine people on both sides was interesting. Ok, he was being pressed by a reporter on his apparent lack of condemnation for the right extremists (which he subsequently did), but he said over and over again that he wont make a statement until he knows the facts, his statements have to be factual correct, unlike other politicians I want what I say to be accurate ... or words to that effect.
