He doesn't know when World War 2 ended. 2020

I think the Russians may have had something to do with defeating the Axis powers as well.....

“We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything,” Trump added. “That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so! We are going to start celebrating our victories again!”

Critics were quick to point out that while the war in Europe came to an end when Germany surrendered on May 8, America continued to fight the Japanese in World War II until August 15, 1945."

“Many of our allies and friends are celebrating May 8th as Victory Day, but we did more than any other Country, by far, in producing a victorious result on World War II,” Trump reasoned on Truth Social.

“We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything,” Trump added.

Uh...

1. The European theater portion of WW II was won with Russian bodies. Period.

2. We don't celebrate War in America. We honor it's Veterans and their families.

I always cringe when I hear someone refer to the Wall as the Viet Nam War Memorial...
It's not. It's a Veterans Memorial.

Having known a Great Grandmother whose husband was Mustard Gassed in WW-I
and a Grandmother who ran the family ranch while her husband served in the Pacific theater in WW-II
I think they would have suggested President Trump not "over-egg the pudding"

Until well after WWII ended, Veterans Day was technically Armistice Day.

We decided to honor all veterans on one national holiday instead of trying to honor each war.

Trump likes the trappings of power. I think he’s pushing for more formal military parades and public celebrations. I kind of get it, but it does have to have a limit….

What happens when we have to honor:
Revolutionary War veterans
War of 1812 vets
Might as well the whiskey rebellion vets as well…
Civil war vets
Indian war vets
Mexican American war
Spanish American war
Mexican punitive expeditions vets
WW I
Banana republic wars
WWII
Korea
Vietnam
Grenada
Panama
Cold War
Gulf war I
Afghanistan
Iraq
General GWOT

And I’m sure I missed a bunch…

Gee, we would need at least 20 additional national holidays.

It’s another idea that while I can kind of get where he is coming from, it’s a stupid stream of consciousness thought that makes no sense.

Technically we do have a WWII specific holiday as is…. Pearl Harbor day.
