Gaza was there then and still today.

I don't feel any more sympathy for the Palestinians than I do for our Native Americans the Kurds, Armenians, etc.

Id guess it'd be a mistake to establish a heavy Western/ Infidel presence in Gaza, but maybe it should be managed and supervised by Egypt. Palestinians are proven to be unable to supervise themselves.

Trump says "everyone loves my plan for Gaza" despite universal condemnation from everyone except Israel.

I suspect this is just another negotiating move by Trump. He loves to float trial ballons. I don't believe he has any intention of following through, but the threat is out there. Perhaps to prod the UAE to lead an Arab coalition in to develop the place and broker some sort of detente between the Jews and the Arabs. They have expressed an interest in having a port in the area. Maybe Saeed will chime in. That would be far more desireable that turning it back over to the Hamas necromongers.

He’s restated that Gaza should be turned over to the US at the conclusion of the fighting, the Palestinians having already been resettled in the region. Also that the US should take a long term ownership position.

Evidently he’s learned nothing from recent US military involvements.

That is the point for the guy who claims he won’t get us into any new wars.

Getting rid of the violent element in Gaza is going to take a long time and make you the target of terror attacks at least until the next generation that has been raised in peace takes over.

You know, there are 17 million sq miles of land in Central Asia and Israel comprises only 8,000 sq miles of it. "Palestine" has been a hellhole since recorded history. They hate for hate's sake.
