So you delight in harassing and frustrating the left, eh?

Yet you and your ilk of other Trumpists claim that your golden god is not the most divisive president in history?

What's wrong with you?

All one needs to do to "sniff the air" as to ones position on Trump is to peruse the thread titles. It's nearly 100% Trump hate.

hmm, well, we just had a free and fair election -- i bet all americans, all states, all EC, and all battleground states will reject him soundly --

oh, wait --

i recall one side whining about "threat to democracy" and now they want to decry that "the most secure election" needs to be overturned ... or perhaps it's just that they can't grow up and understand that you don't win all the time, and sometimes you are on the losing side -- having voted libertarian for decades, i am used to my candidates losing -

oh, little jimmy is mad he didn't get the elites extra votes --

if only the racist and sexist dems had shown up in the same, without growth, support that they did in 2020 --

It might really surprise you if you left the relative safety of the leftist media. Trump is still poling well with the American people.

He's way ahead on Immigration, the economy, inflation, Iran and just had some major victories in the SCOTUS. Lowest gas in 4 years, NATO spending and more stock market records.

I'd agree if you only get your information form one side, it looks like he's underwater with everyone, everywhere.

Did you watch the CNN video I posted? 6 full minutes of Trump coming out on top and making monkeys of the Democrats.

Right now, CNN and the other lefty sources are in much the same situation as when they suddenly realized Joe was not competent. Now, they are coming to the realization that, as bad as Trump may be, he's better than anything the Dems can come up with. They probably don't yet realize that the Democrat platform is a large part of the problem. Left wing idealism has dragged them down. Given the chance they'll drag everyone else down with them. Bill.

There is no consistency in polls.
They never use the same data. Some will use any registered voter. Some only those that voted in the last election. The questions can be vaguely phrased so they are hard to give a clear answer to.
I dont know what a poll result tells us, unless they give the questions asked.

I finally figured out why Trump has support

Many of us have been giving credit where it's not due. It's a projection of morals or ethics, like there's equivalence. Some have been thinking that Trump has support DESPITE his and Trumpism's flaws, and forgive him. Really, he has support because of his flaws.

Trump supporters like and can relate to petulance, bullying, lying, narcissism, Machiavellianism, sadism, paranoia, psychopathy, incompetence, chaos, disrespect for the rule of law, hate and dehumanizing in the us vs them plot, hubris, and more.

That's what they want and Trump gives aplenty.

It's really that simple.

Eliza Collins USA TODAY

After Clinton remark, online dictionary searches of 'deplorable' up 50,000%

Clinton made the original remark at a fundraiser Friday evening, saying: “To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it."

later she said:

“Last night I was ‘grossly generalistic,’ and that's never a good idea," she said in a statement. "I regret saying ‘half’ — that was wrong."

She went on to say that "many of Trump's supporters are hard-working Americans who just don’t feel like the economy or our political system are working for them."

=======================================================

So, the way I read it, and have come to understand the word deplorables as a noun, she retracted her "half" claim and substituted mostly. Wink

Trump used it as a campaign spin.

Many Trump supporters adopted the word within their self-ID and a badge of honor.

That's funny. I didn't know you had funny in you. Wink

The word had different meaning back then. The new meanings have been surfaced with the rise of Trumpism.

For those who the word is over your head, just look it up. Try Dark Tetrad.

Actually, there is a lot of consistency in polling. Polls can certainly be incorrect but there are many that have a very good record of accurately predicting political outcomes.

Seriously? A sample of two proves polling is "constantly and consistently" wrong? That is ridiculous.

Although it is interesting that both involve trump. There's a theory that pollsters don't get accurate responses from folks on him....because he's so stupid and embarrassing that people are reluctant to admit they support him.

Who knows?

I could never learn to like English class. Some could write three pages and not say anything, so I got glassy eyed listening to book reports being read.

The purpose of good English is to communicate succinctly and clearly.

I kind of laugh about your comment on book reports. We did more than a few that I recall, but the only person reading them was the teacher.

A good vocabulary used to be a sign of erudition.

No longer.

Because the hacks out there redefine things to suit their purposes.

Machiavellian has not changed in its definition just because of Trump.

That seems to be correct. I didn't mean to say or imply that the usage of the word changed because of Trump.

Instead, what I tried to say is that the new usage as it has evolved meshes with Trump's personality traits perfectly. IOW, he's the perfect example, among other traits.

Also I'm saying that the characteristics displayed by Trump are the exact formula that stimulates Trumpsters.

https://www.google.com/search?...IB1A&sclient=gws-wiz

AI Overview:

Yes, the definition and understanding of "Machiavellianism" have evolved over time.

Original Context & Interpretation:

Political strategy: The term originates from Niccolò Machiavelli, specifically his book The Prince, written in the 16th century.

"The end justifies the means": Machiavelli's work focused on advising rulers on how to gain and maintain power, even if it meant using morally questionable tactics, suggesting that the effectiveness of a ruler's actions should be judged by their outcome rather than by traditional moral standards.

Early negative perception:

Immediately following the publication of The Prince, Machiavelli was often viewed negatively, seen as an advocate of cruelty and tyranny, and his writings were considered immoral or even "Satanic" by some.

Later and Modern Interpretations:

More nuanced understanding:

Over time, a more positive view of Machiavelli and his work emerged, with some scholars acknowledging the wisdom in his writings and viewing them as strategic guides in various fields, including business and military strategy.

Psychological trait:

In modern psychology, Machiavellianism has been formalized as a personality construct, specifically a component of the "Dark Triad" along with narcissism and psychopathy.

Focus on manipulation and lack of empathy: Psychologists define Machiavellianism as characterized by cunning, manipulative behavior, a cynical worldview, strategic planning, and a lack of empathy, often used for personal gain and power.

Nuances within the trait: Some research suggests Machiavellianism may not be a single, monolithic trait, but rather comprised of different facets like manipulative tactics and a cynical view of human nature.

Impact on various domains:

The concept is now applied to various aspects of life, including workplace dynamics, social interactions, and even evolutionary biology.

In summary, while the core idea of pragmatic and potentially unscrupulous behavior to achieve goals remains central, the definition of Machiavellianism has evolved from a primarily political strategy to encompass a recognized personality trait studied in psychology, with a greater understanding of its nuances and manifestation in various aspects of life.
