Aren’t you all undocumented immigrants? The original inhabitants of this country are living in glorified concentration camps!

Fortunately, the original inhabitants didn't require visas, so we are more like uninvited guests who never left than actual burglars. "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

Not it wasn’t. Your ancestors were unwanted criminals the Brits wanted to get rid of!

Nah, that's the Aussies, we were the ones nobody could get along with and were glad to see leave. When you consider we thought smallpox was an appropriate "house-warming" gift perhaps they had a point... "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

Where are all our foam-at-the-mouth mass deportation fans? Don't we want rid of "illegal immigrants", you know, those who break Laws to get here? "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

Well jeffi. The lawyers here on PF said overstaying a valid visa, which he had for school, is not against the law. Go back to your lie that Musk NEVER created anything. Which, with the lie, that you always admit your wrong, gives two lies right there.
|
One of Us |
Since he did not enroll he didn't get it "for school" but under false pretenses, which is a crime, and he had no permit to work, another crime. Obtaining legal status later should have been denied due to his earlier immigration violations and his "naturalization" cannot be legally valid. Maybe so, but he’s the Jackie Treehorn of illegal immigrants. He draws a lot of water in this

Sounds about right for a Democrat. Let’s deport the guy creating thousands of high paying jobs.

Oh jeffi. The lies just dont stop with you do they. Musk enrolled at stanford, but transferred to University of Penn after two days. He got degrees in economics and physics while there. All public record. But please, continue making shit up and telling people you dont lie.

I had already corrected fifi on Elon, and asked for him to lay out his similar accomplishments.. Strange, there was no reply.. no ronworry, naki says he himself is also more successful than trump Oh, I just found out another Elon accomplishment, he wrote and sold a computer game when he was TWELVE.. I was still pushing a paint brush and mower at 12 Oh, fifi, you are trying to assert that Musk was here illegally.. which, as usual, with anything factual, you are wrong. You were so close, he attended Penn then "entered" the grad program at Stanford to get a visa but never enrolled, invalidating the visa and making him an illegal alien. All public record. "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

And not against the law according to the lawyers here. Snopes said, in a court filing when he had to release the info from a paypal lawsuit, that my version is correct. If not, the courts would have been on his case. Look it up.

Federal law says it is not a crime. I have posted the federal law in question before. Only 1 to 2 percent of visa’s overstay. Sorry that does not make a crisis. https://sgp.fas.org/crs/homesec/R47848.pdf The Fed law is popular law INA 222g governing overstays. I know it is hard, but actions can be in violation of law, but those actions are not crimes. Traffic violations are an easy example. Violations by common law are not crimes. Here is some good information. https://sgp.fas.org/crs/homesec/R47848.pdf 22 C.F.R. 41.101(d)(2) is the executive branch implementation of INA 222(g). I do not like Musk, but I do not care about his status. Now, the House did try to make visa overstays a crime punishable by incarceration in 2023-2024. They failed.

Again, I do not care, not desire an investigation into Musk status. He has been naturalized. This all at best seems moot. I am not going to waste time on it. He is a US Citizen just like me. The only limitation being he cannot stand for election to presidency. I support ending that limitation by constitutional amendment.

I wonder what it would take for any constitutional amendment to happen?

2/3rds of both chambers of Congress and 3/4ths of the states ratifying. There are two mechanisms provided for amending the Constitution. The most used is the above process. I would argue that the 14th Amendment Privileges and Immunities Clause invalidated that restriction. However, the PandI Clause was strangled in the corn w the Slaughter House cases. Instead of overturning the Slaughter House Cases, the S. Ct., embarked upon the Selective Incorporation of Rights through the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The Equal Protection Clause cannot be read to overuse an express limitation placed upon an individual by the Constitution. The ratification process was the highest level of due process provided. Bow, I could see the EPC being so used. I just cannot rationalize it as being “correct.” I support so amending the Constitution to allow naturalized citizens to stand for election for presidency. I would not vote for Musk, more than likely. However, my not voting for Musk would not be because he was naturalized.

He finished at Penn in '95 and pretended to enroll at Stamford and started working with his brother without a work permit. Global Link was purchased (and renamed Zip2) in August of 1996. He wasn't a student anywhere and had no work permit but sold Global Link for $3 million 8 months after he and his brother started it. Rich Sorkin became CEO, Musk Secretary of the new company, but Musk couldn't be an employee because he was undocumented. Finally Penn decided that some required classes Musk hadn't taken were no longer important and issued BS degrees in '97, after Musk was undocumented for three years. Possession of a degree, earned or bought, qualified him to work getting "practical training". "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

I know the logistics of amending it. I wonder what Topic, for lack of a better word, it would take to get people together enough to get it done. Letting a non-native born person be pres. is not going to be it.

Getting rid of the last lingering vestige of slavery, the Electoral College, would be a fine place to start. Amending the definition of "treason" to recognize that traitors don't need a declared war to betray the Country would be another. This is forever. There is plenty, actually millions as you say, of workers. And very very few real world job creators. Your logic is the hatred you have cutting off your nose to spite your face. It’s plain for all to see right here. Your emotions override good sense. You are a woman

It is plain for all to see, you are a small minded sad excuse of a man who despises those who are not just like you. It would be hard to get more anti-American that that. You personify what is wrong with the right.
|

So you want to deport Elon Musk? You truly think this is wise?
|
One of Us |
I did not say that. I said that your despising those not like you is plain to see. I have not advocated for deporting anyone, though I do think undocumented residents who commit crimes should get deported. The foreign workers who do low paying jobs fill a need in this country. When was the last time you heard an American youth express the desire to go in to fruit and vegetable harvesting as a career? Never.....same for quite a few other less than glorious careers.

I would not deport them. I would provide them w a legal status, legal recognition requiring labor laws to be enforced, and provide a path for citizenship. Musk is no more important than those laborers. That assumes Musk over stayed. Assuming he did, I do mot care. The man is now a Citizen. Make the path. I cannot wait for T Hawker to have a women. He appears to have serious uses w women.

I disagree. A citizen is a citizen. GOP was all for it when Arnold Schwarzenegger got elected. The last R you will see be the Gov of California. When the Constitution was written we did not believe, create, nor want a base level of citizenship. We now have that, with the 14th Amendment. This is dispute the far right’s attempts to destroy it. A citizen a citizen. That has to mean something regardless of where one is standing.
