I wouldn't be the guy to say one way or another, but it looks to me like so far so good.

The President of Mexico and Trump both agree they had a very agreeable conversation and I read about Trudeau going down to Florida to see Donald. Both of those events had to be a step in the right direction.

If it's not a crime I certainly think it's a terrible sin to allow what comes across our border unimpeded. I've said more than once I think we should be using our military ad in two or more Marine divisions to solve the lawlessness in Mexico.

Why do you want Trumps tariff threats to fail? Not enough illegal immigration for you? Not enough Fentanyl for you?

I don't get it. You now seem yo be rooting for Trump to fail at the expense of American safety and drug addiction?

Why not just see if his policies might win? We cheered for Biden's policies to fail because their success would have meant more illegals, more illicit drugs.

Facts - Obama and Biden deported more illegals than Trump.

The border was a sieve during Trump's first term.

All the drug lords will be queuing up to bribe trump through the various back channels. Trumps connections with the mafia and the Russian oligarchs will be in full operation.

What do you think will happen to farmers if trump does what he plans? Last time was a disaster requiring 2 massive bailouts. Who do you think paid for that? The Argentinians liked it, tho.

Yes, you cheered for Biden to fail. His admin had a bipartisan border bill. You cheered when Trump quashed it. I don't know if Biden's success would have meant more illegals and more drugs. I suspect his success would have meant more legal immigration and less drugs, but you would have called it illegal and more anyway.

Why not see if Trump's wild ideas called policies win? What choice do I have?

You don't get it? You think I'm rooting for Trump to fail at the expense of American safety and drug addiction? That's absurd, and seriously offensive.

I don't trust Trump's word on anything. He connects his tariff thing to illegals and fentanyl. That's a recent development/connection. He's playing his mob boss coercion bully thing. At first it was about the economy and jobs, and I suppose trade balances, globalization, etc. Now he's added another fear factor for his followers. Remember he said he was going to make Mexico pay for his big beautiful wall? Remember when he threatened to invade Mexico? Remember when he sanctioned separation of families as a deterrent? No, you don't remember those inconvenient truths.

You don't get it alright. Trump is a lying maniac, a cruel amoral man. "Success" to him is a malevolent thing. And he will claim success whether it really is or not, and spin it, and lie, and foremost you and others will believe him, or at the least make excuses and/or blame shift.

I have zero confidence that Trump will succeed at anything that can remotely be objectively considered good or wholesome. I have lots of confidence that he will succeed at the opposite of good.

What are the foremost things that Trump has succeeded at so far? He has proven that he is above the law, evaded accountability for crimes, lied voluminously, and the number one thing he has succeeded at is fomented Belief in Fiction by his supporters.

So, it's not about the tariffs that I'm rooting for Trump's failure. I'm rooting for American success in all respects, and I believe Trump is not the way. I'm a believer in the means to success matters as much as the end. And besides all that, I don't subscribe to what I understand Trump's goals are, despite what he says to try to clean it up, spin it. I think they are utterly corrupt, and the means is corrupt too, and Trump is corrupt. Corrupt doesn't beget good.

Trump's greatest success so far is his BIG LIE. And you want more Trump successes.

When was the last time in history that the BIG LIE was successful? And in the final tally, was it really a success?

Ah, yes. The infamous border bill that allowed 3,000,000 illegals a year in, but legally. Sounds great, right?

If more BP agents that are simply acting as file clerks doing menial tasks to make the flow appear orderly.

Please read the bill, you’ll see I’m not lying.

As to being offended. Wasn't my goal. BUT...If you are making fun of the back and forth between Trump and the Mexican president, what other motive can I assume?

I think I've more than proven that I'm not here to offend or use expletives to make a point. I desire civil debate. I think you are capable of such, as I've really never seen you resort to profanity.

If he succeeds, we have less illicit drugs and illegal immigration. If he fails, we have exactly what we have now.

Jim,
you have a direct way with words - (hat tip)
Steve, 8,500 INTERACTIONS per day before the curbs kicked in, 3.1 million a year MORE (which is more than the 2022 total interactions) which is estimated to be between 15 and 30% of the TOTAL sneaking over the border ---

but little kevin, living in his single wide in georgia, doesn't have a CLUE as to the realities of the world -- ask him about his divorce from his Nth wife before a "lesbian judge" (his words - his POST, aint no "you spilled the beans victim BS ),,, literally never a SECOND of reflection

hell, son, even my football coach would tell me "go think about what you did wrong, then FIX IT"

NYC crying over 100k illegals shipped to them, breaking the budget of the richest city in the US, and under this STUPID plan would have been less than 2 weeks of the allowed illegals.

if you aint got no skin in the game, stfu KEVIN- my state, my choice

Why do you not address the moral issue of Trumps inherent corruption and the GOP's inherent corruption.

Because debating this with you is simply whack-a-mole. I'll tell you about weaponization of the justice system against guys like Roger Stone or Paul Manafort. You don't believe it is weaponized and I do. Its really that simple.

FBI Swat raids, pre-dawn for process crimes? Does that sound right to you? Manafort in solitary confinement? Does that sound like punishment for process crimes? Crimes that John Pedestal did the identical thing and was never even looked at for indictment.

I won't debate you because there is no outcome that we can agree on. You only approve of the most liberal/progressive policies in America.

America under a conservative rule, you clearly despise.

You trying to convince this forum that the founding fathers were atheist or liberal progressives isn't something there is middle-ground on.

Naki- I don't dislike you, I'm sure there are more things we agree on in life, than disagree. Just politics is to toxic right now and people are at one another's throats.

I respect your post, thanks.

But you still do not answer the question. Manafort was already a known Russian agent. Stone is a know criminal trickster. Self confessed.

Why are you not the referring to what the GOP and Ken Starr did ti Bill Clinton? Or to Hillary and Bengazi?

I am talking about the moral and ethical matters. Why do you support a party that is so way behind on moral and legal credibility?

Does Trump's history with rape and molesting women not matter to you?

BTW, not only were Founding Fathers liberals but so was Jesus. All were anti establishment.

Basically Trump is trying to blame other countries on his own country's failings.

You have a border.

Protect it.

You have customs.

Use them to stop drugs coming in.

Very easy.

Despite attempts to teach you better, you insist that people on your side of the divide should be immune from prosecution--most curiously, without once arguing they were innocent.

The justice system hasn't been weaponized against your people any more than it was against Hunter Biden.

The justice system hasn't been weaponized against your people any more than it was against Hunter Biden.

To change the subject, you knew Cal? Very nice guy. When I was living in Anchorage, he sold a rifle for me at his gun show table for no charge.

Exactly my point. You (i'll just call the liberal gang in here the collective you for brevities sake) refuse to believe what is right in front of you.

The DOJ, will selectively prosecute Republicans for the same misdeeds that a democrat gets away with, penalty free.

example, Trump was civilly found responsible for "fingering" a woman, who couldn't even remember, within a two year span when Trump did it, yet a NYC Jury, found him responsible...fine

Yet...

Tara Reid was "forcibly fingered" by Joe Biden and not a peep from the left. There was exactly the same amount of evidence, actually more in the Reid case. She had made notations with colleagues about it when it occurred.

But since Biden is a D, you refuse to even acknowledge it might have happened, you simply discount it, outright.

How about the weaponization at the school boards? Parents were directed to be labeled as domestic terrorists for protesting the trans movement in schools, by Merick Garland himself.

How can you reconcile that?

Or FEMA, avoiding Republican homes.

Or the Bucks county, PA voting board lady who admitted to breaking voting laws yet nothing happens.

Or Adam Schiff lying to Congress and obviously nothing happens

Or Liz Cheney violating witness tampering laws, yet nothing happens

Or AL Sharpton owning ~4-5 million in back taxes and nothing happens

Or when the IRS targeted The Tea Party under Lois Lehrner.

Or Nancy Pelosi admitting she was responsible for the National Guard not being activated on J6.

Or HRC selecting to NOT be prosecuted by Comey. Since when does he get to decide? What HRC did, and Comey admitted to (I'll post the youtube if you'd like) was FAR FAR worse than some misfiled tax document about hush money. Ohhhh, hush money you say?

Bill Clinton paid Paula Jones 900K IIRC

Or that other D that ran for POTUS, can't recall his name, same thing, but crickets.

Or Bill Clinton meeting with Loretta Lynch on her plane in Phoenix?

Point being Roland, you see the DOJ through a completely different and partisan prism than I do. And apparently the majority of America agree's with me. as we elected a rapist and a felon.

Pam Bondi will now, correct many of these actions and "you" will all be furious and claim selective prosecution. Those same things that "we" felt for years.

I will happily provide receipts for all these things if you want, but I'm pretty sure you remember them all.

I want equal justice under the law. I want R's and D'd both either prosecuted or not, based on the same law and justice, not a partisan DOJ or AG.

As far as Uneducable goes. I graduated high school and nothing more. I'm not ashamed to admit it. But my street smarts served me well and continues to do so.

Saeed, ask these guys about operation "Fast & Furious" under Obama. An American BP agent was killed by a Cartel member with guns supplied by a Democrat gun running operation.

Eric Holder was found in contempt of Congress and served NO TIME, Yet Steve Bannon... EXACT SAME CRIME severed 4 months. Go figure.

Again, nothing new.

Fast & Furious was a sting operation that did not go according to plan. It was nothing intentionally nefarious & Holder did not personally plan anything. Guess who was NOT president in 2006? Yeah, but Bush was. And thru 2 years his guys made ZERO arrests. So calling it a "democratic" gun running operation is a real stretch at best. I've never read that the border agent was killed with one of these guns, only that one was found at the scene. As if there would have been no guns there without F&F. That is 100% laughable. The cartels had no other sources for guns?

Not exactly the same.

Steve Bannon is scum. Holder is not.

Holder was AG. Bannon was not. Obama covered Holder with exec privilege. Bannon tried the ploy unsuccessfully. Holder was held in contempt per a lawfare farce. Bannon committed contempt under the guise he was resisting lawfare when in fact he was engaging in lawfare. And so forth.

Bannon Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison for Contempt of Congress
Stephen Bannon was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress this summer for defying a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee.

By Glenn Thrush and Alan Feuer
Oct. 21, 2022
(excerpt)
Mr. Bannon is not the only former Trump aide to be charged with disobeying a subpoena from the committee: Peter Navarro, the former White House trade adviser, was indicted in June on contempt of Congress charges.

He is scheduled to go on trial in Washington next month.

Members of the House Jan. 6 committee, who viewed Mr. Bannon as a central figure in several schemes aimed at unlawfully keeping Mr. Trump in power, said the sentence would discourage others from flouting legislative subpoenas.

This is not the first time Mr. Bannon, who clashed with Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and other aides during a brief and tumultuous tenure as a senior White House adviser, has faced a reckoning in a federal court.

In August 2020, Mr. Bannon and three associates were charged with defrauding donors of more than a million dollars as part of an online fund-raising scheme purportedly linked to Mr. Trump’s attempt to build a border wall with Mexico.

After Mr. Trump lost the election, Mr. Bannon began lobbying for a pardon, even as he participated in meetings to discuss ways to overturn the election. Mr. Trump pardoned him just hours before leaving office.

Still, Mr. Bannon faces separate charges in New York over his role in the fund-raising project. The Manhattan district attorney’s office has charged him with fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, a case that largely mirrors the one erased by the pardon.

From my reading of it, the documents the oversight bunch wanted were eventually provided, and claims about his afore knowledge were shown to be wrong.

It was Holder who they were after. Holder's claim that it was an election year ploy had merit.

I suppose they weighed the probable political harm and decided his refusal to testify would be less harmful than testifying. And the exec privilege worked.

Anyway, Bannon's and Navarro's contempt was more clear-cut. They banked on quid pro quo, silence for pardon and lost. Four months should have been four years.

Holder has an actual claim of privilege, invoked it, I am not sure if the matter was even referred to the DOJ. Assuming, it was DOJ professionals would have vetted the privilege claim and declined. That would be appropriate.

I thought it was President Obama’s privilege and he claimed it? Executive privilege.

Holder only had privilege as far as the president felt necessary.

Or am I wrong on that?

Exactly, the invoking of executive privilege has actual merit. The case was not prosecutable.

I don't have time to respond to every grievance on your litany, but I will call bullshit on some of them. You have spin on them all (you must be dizzy by now), so my failure to mention some doesn't mean I concede any point unless mentioned.

Aside from belittling a verdict from a jury Trump helped select, what other significant differences are there between the two cases of alleged sexual abuse? Aha! I think I've got it! Did Reid ever sue Biden; Biden fail to settle it; and it go to trial with a verdict against him?

There was no disparate treatment by a system controlled by the Democrats. Are you suggesting the NY courts would not have set a trial date for Reid, if she filed a civil suit against Biden? Hogwash.

Your point missed the mark. Civil suits are brought by private parties, not a prosecutor. Therefore, nothing about the two cases supports the argument that the DOJ will selectively prosecute Republicans and not Democrats for the same conduct.

You see? In college, they taught me critical thinking. So my tuition wasn't wasted.

I see I've gone on enough for one post. I'll try to get back and address further points when I have time.

How about the weaponization at the school boards? Parents were directed to be labeled as domestic terrorists for protesting the trans movement in schools, by Merick Garland himself.

Yeah, good for Garland. If I became aware of parents making terrorist threats against school board members, I'd put a terrorist watch on them too.

"Or FEMA, avoiding Republican homes."

I've only heard of allegations. Receipt, please.

"Or Adam Schiff lying to Congress and obviously nothing happens."

Heavens! A Congressman lying to Congress? What next? Will they lie to their constituents?

"Or AL Sharpton owning ~4-5 million in back taxes and nothing happens."

And you know nothing happened because you hacked confidential IRS files maybe? I bet you defended Trump for hiding his taxes. Hypocrite. Why wouldn't Sharpton have the same right to keep his tax info confidential?

Will continue...

She should have been prosecuted. That's one point for you. At least you're on the scoreboard.

I can't tell what any of your remaining points have to do with the DOJ.

To go back to the front of your post, I object to being put in a collective "you," assumed to be Democrats. I am not a Democrat...though I reserve the right to vote for one if she is the most reasonable choice.

Some of the anti-Trump posters here are Dems, some aren't. We are united mainly in our dislike of the most contemptible president in history.

I'm mostly liberal or libertarian on the issues, so I don't mind being called a liberal. Since "conservative" has become synonymous with Trumpism, I wear the "liberal" label as a badge of honor.
