I think Jesus would judge the circumstances and not the act. Like The Old Testament does.

Our closeted analogues fact pattern is the Adulators woman. I believe he would act like that of you brought such a person before him.

I can see both sides of this.

Lane's view is the most compelling to me.

My view is not religious, but humanism.

Abortion is wrong, IMO.

At the same time, this is but one issue re the Christian worldview.

None of his business doesn't translate for Lane. Too busy telling us what Jesus thought. Heavy burden but he is comfortable with it. Especially lately.

Wow, jeffe, I never thought of it that way.

Thanks for that new insight.

Humanism is not a religion, but your point is still valid, IMO. It is something to believe in nonetheless.

I do think that religion and humanism reconcile on this issue. There may be (most probably) other issues too.

I doubt that.

I feel certain Jesus would offer kindness and love, wisdom and guidance, maybe understanding.

I think I have been banned from judging, condemning so especially in this case I'll take a solid pass. I haven't been able to get on the "crucify Alec!" train because out of some sense of humility I sympathize and feel badly for Alec. He killed a mother, a daughter, a sweet and innocent woman. Imagine being Baldwin and by chance bumping into the woman's father, child, husband.

In my mind, what a horrible decision to be faced with.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, in my job at the time, I was assigned the task of investigating a guy who ran several abortion clinics. This guy threatened me personally in several ways. Details not necessary. He drove a Mercedes and lived high. I was gonna say high on the hog, but he was Jewish.

Anyway, I got him with the evidence, and the law did the rest. It wasn't about the abortions, but fraud and tax evasion.

He was a most disgusting person, IMO.

Welcome to the new Christian right Saeed.

Now they spend a billion $ on stupid bowl adds, billboards on freeways and see nothing wrong with killing Muslims and Jews. All the while saying IF JESUS met a mother contemplating abortion.

If she was Muslim in a mosque they'd probably see nothing wrong with one of their celibate freaks killing her.

Really, really wild exaggeration.

The really sad part is they are actually doing it for very selfish reasons.

Their perceived notion that it will get them to heaven!

If we look at it from a realistic point of view, we will see it very clearly.

All three major religions originated in our part of the world.

God knew who the best people are, no questions about it.

Then it somehow went to Europe.

You know, the same people who were living in the DARK AGES when we were being inspired by God.

He even gave us the choice of THREE religions.

You lot in the West are nothing but jealous, and if we look at your society today, just look what jealousy has brought you!

Biden!

Trump.

Kamala.

Newson and Kalifornia!

Well, at least you are providing us all with some dark humor!

Bloody hell, imagine living in a place where you don't like yourself so much, you get your dick cut off and a pair of tits installed instead!

Won't be long before you have a new State.

Apologies to anyone I may offend but I think that most of the pro-abortion crowd aren't pro-life at all, whatever it is anti-abortion is not about saving lives or souls.

If saving lives of the UNBORN were the issue, then saving the physical and spiritual lives of the BORN would be equally important, which it is not.

If it were , then here in the USA we would not rank 50 out of 193 countries in infant mortality. You don't see right to lifers protesting outside of public schools for early childhood care, or free hot lunches for all students, or reduced to a maximum of 20 students per classroom or anything else that has proven to be a producer of quality young men and women who will help America become the pinnacle of what other nations want to become.

Until I see groups actively protesting and working to allow children to have the tools and support to create a decent life for themselves, I will always consider these anti-abortion groups to be "pro birth" and not necessarily "pro life"

Eric would have no need to worry…I will kill both of you. And after having his way with her…lopped her head off with a sword or vice-versa.

I bounced around in the seat of my Dad’s truck checking cattle everyday until I was in the first grade. There was no kindergarten. My mother started back to work when I could potty on the ground. There was nothing free then and no health insurance. When I needed my tonsils out right before first grade…my Dad went to the bank and borrowed the money…I still remember going into the banker’s office with him. Half had to be paid up front. All my classes in elementary school had 30 kids…2/3 of the classroom was minority.

Somehow I got 3 college degrees and became a board certified veterinary surgeon.

None of the above is what is necessary to raise a productive young adult.

Another possibility exists that I had not considered earlier. It is possible that Jesus would suggest to a woman contemplating abortion that she seek council with her local horse Doctor.

Since it appears to be in vogue of late to make moral pronouncements about what the Bible dictates on this or that, what would Jesus do in this situation or that, etc., I wonder what he would say about divorce. Just a wild guess but I suspect that many that are perfectly comfortable making moral pronouncements and judgments on other issues have been divorced . . . some probably more than once. If they sought counsel from Jesus on getting a divorce and the sanctity of marriage what would Jesus have said? My point is simply, there are plenty of hypocrites out there that will happily overlook their own moral failings while at the same time condemning another for their moral failings. Perhaps that is why such matters are best left to the individual to address.

So, just because you were born a little smarter than the average, one can extrapolate that anybody and everybody can obtain success without some outside assistance? I presume that you had enough to eat and by your own statement, you received medical care. And it doesn’t sound like either of your parents were alcoholic or drug abusers.

Jesus was asked by divorce. He told them no one is husband nor wife in Heaven. However, since you want it, the law of Moses suffices.

Mike,
Your statement definitely has truth to it. My OP has zero to do with condemnation…

…but everything to do with people thinking about their perception.

I do try to think about things in a manner of how Christ would have me to act.

I fail more times than not and by Grace I am forgiven…just as any mother who had an abortion would be.

But knowing we will be forgiven for only the cost of asking…does not dissolve us from “trying” to do right to begin with.

Believe me…I know I have been a wretched sinner and ask for forgiveness often.

My point is…

…The Bible does not say abortion is OK and I believe “we all” (the ones who have taken the time to study it) know in our hearts what Jesus was likely to have said.

Are you okay with laws allowing divorce? Do you believe that divorce is okay and consistent with the teachings of Jesus? If not, why don't you preach a bit on that to others.

Somehow, I feel both sides of the debate would be somewhat surprised with what he would say… I certainly don’t know, because there are points on both sides of the argument that I think he would support.

I doubt either hard line position would be supported, but then again, I could be wrong.

Your point is valid but…there is one big difference.

In divorce…one side does not get executed.

We ALL commit sin and by Grace we can all be forgiven by asking and believing.

Don’t fool yourself into believing Jesus didn’t care about the unborn and that the Bible is dismissive of it.

I do to, so why all the protests about the one issue and not the others, in particular from those who claim to be Christian.

I know full well that there are any number of people who would help those in need and who do so, but I can easily also see someone driving past those in the above scenarios to go hold up a sign outside an abortion clinic.

Also odd that the law makers are happy to restrict abortion but silent on allocating money to help those in need.

..or how about those who vote against universal healthcare knowing full well there are folks who can’t afford the treatment they need…

A couple of points:
1) Abortions end with death. This makes it a priority.
2) Define need??? Even the homeless in the USA are well fed in the 21st century.

I do not think you can say all homeless are well fed. They may have as Dickens observed Poor House and Prisons your taxes pay for. They could go there or die.

Of course, Dickens wrote that they best on with it and decrease the surplus population.

Dickens’ Character concludes God does not want that. I suggest you do as well.

How many late term, healthy pregnancies were aborted legally in Texas under Plan Parenthood v Texas? The answer is none. That was better than what we have now. The state forcing children and adult rape victims to carry and deliver. God understood. I’d he did not he is not God, and we need not worry.

I see a bunch of them every week. I have yet to see one in poor body condition.

I have seen hungry people in countries in Africa and Mexico in past decades. That is a rare occurrence to day as well.

And as Mike Mitchell pointed out in his area in Dallas. There is a Motel 6 allocated for them to stay in. They just have to leave their alcohol and drugs out. They don't go in.

You see them all everywhere. You exam them all and know all their medical and mental health conditions.

You would be the first to vote against someone who proposed using tax dollars or a new tax to move them into professional residential treatment.

Of course, everyone all around the YS is homeless just because they are lazy bums.

I don't believe I will be making that call.

I am capable of judging body condition.

I guess you were absent the day I said I liked Bill Walton's Plan.

Why would we raise taxes?

Most taxation is based on percent of earnings -- 100% is finite.

Plenty of cutting to be done to find the money.

Texas already banned late, healthy pregnancy abortions same as Kentucky under Plan Parenthood v Casey.

Last time o read the Bible only the rejection of Christ as the redirected only begotten son of God once he presents to you personally sends one to Hell.

No, I have no doubt God would rather a 13 year old deliver a child conceived in rape.

No, I have no doubt God would prefer the State to dictate my mother in law had to deliver her son.

No, I have no doubt that God would prefer a 23 year old who has no agency in the pregnancy to deliver the child.

You cannot judge eternal medicine, intellectual disability, nor mental health looking at them as you drive by them.

You cannot judge anything looking at someone as you drive by.
