We just got word that UPS is marking many parcels going into the U.S. as “For Destruction”. My wife has a hobby internet business selling specialty crafting supplies, and lately she’s had a high percentage of ‘never arrived’ stuff going on. Apparently since the ‘de minimus’ basis line was eliminated they’re simply too swamped with paperwork to process them all. Have you guys heard anything? | ||

Recently I ordered something rather expensive to me on Amazon. Turns out the product is made in Canada. Then I got a call from the mfg and seller. He told me I could save $100 by ordering it direct. I never had that happen before. Anyway, we talked and he explained and seemed legit. He said going through Amazon required some import/export hassle. I don't know the details, but I ordered and paid directly, and cancelled the Amazon order. Bullshit. The company importing the goods pay the IMPORT tariff. These companies then either absorb the cost and keep their prices stable- OR THEY RAISE THEIR PRICES AND INCREASE THE INFLATION RATE. Walmart, Amazon, Target have already started they will be passing their increased cost along to customers. Pretty simple really except for the intellectually challenged. Apparently, you are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. We are now paying some of the highest tariff rates in the world. These shenanigans have cost me tens of thousands of dollars so far this year(I hear you cheering Ane), all for doing business with a country that has a trade SURPLUS with us.
