Well, I'm not suggesting a full pardon with no consequences. What's it called? Let the felony conviction(s) stand, commute the sentence. But then he may still run for office while he's appealing, and appealing, etc. And the damage he can do in the court of public opinion is still real. There are still state charges that can't be pardoned or commuted, assuming conviction, as far as I know.
