I received a notice from the USF&W that they were starting to issue CITIES permits for Bontebok. However, a new requirement is having a DNA certificate as well as landowner documents. I'm awaiting the DNA paperwork. This ram should rank in the top 10 in the world. As usual, I probably won't enter it. When I submitted the CITES fee ($100) in 2019, landowner letter and certificate of herd purity, my dip & pack company advised they already had a stack of applications sitting on their desk for 3 years. I'd say only those educated in the difference. Several things to look for and I've said for years that if you took the top 25 Bontebok registered in SCI, I'd bet 10 or more are hybrid Blesbok. I don't see entering a head in the book as much for personal gratification, as to show what that level of animal looks like, and to update the records. One more in the top 10 going to move one out of that category. This head really looks great. deep ridges, and clean horns. | |||
