ramrod340, That's easy to fix. Just send your trophies this way next time.

Can you please tell me why there was a problem?
Is this just because the skins were old or had they been "mistreated"?

Reason I'm asking is because I have three skins from Namibia 2004 that I'm going to deliver to my taxidermist soon. He's really good, so I trust him for turning them into great mounts. Just wanted to know what kind of things to look out for.

Beautiful mount, btw!! The "problem" doesn't seem to have affected the mount at all.. Smiler

Experience saved this cape
It was dry tanned soaked up, thrown in a corner and left to mold, this one wasn't terrible but I can't wait to mount that black molded waterbuck.
I'll save it also.
Most tanneries require you mount or soak and freeze a skin within a year or they will not guarentee it's mountability.

Ann waited over 4 years and finally with the help of myself and another mamber here dogcather, Drew Mundo, we got them back from a low life that did not mount them in the 4 years he had them.
Now she is seeing results....

Thanks
DENNIS

Fantastic looking mount!! I daresay it looks better than it did in the trophy picture, a difficult thing to accomplish.

So for longterm storage should the hide only be salted??
