I've got a whitetail mount I thought I'd share with the good folks here. I did not mount it although I planned to. My friend Joel Stone of Stones Taxidermy in Leeds alabama is the very talanted artist. Joel wanted it for a competition mount. Summer killed deer with velvet antlers and typical short/patchy summer coat of hair. Tough assignment....  pedstal showing "water hole" platform, notice that the buck has mud dripping from his mouth.  close up of face...  best piece of whitetail taxidermy I've seen. Not everyone likes those half shed haircoats, but I sure do. I really like those late summer in velvet deer. Very clean mount. Nice finish work. Was that a second in Masters or Open at the World Show? Kind regards, Mary Taxidermist/Rugmaker | |||
