woodsieFull Body Ibex Mounts?
I would love to see some of your Ibex mounts. I shot a Free Range Persian Ibex in the Rugged mts of Texas last weekend, and I want to do a full body mount.
Any help is much appreciated.

SafariTracker4868woodsie,
What a great animal! Was it on public or private land? Guided? Where abouts in Texas?

SevensWoodsie,
Did you decide on a pose for your ibex? Any chance you have some pics from another angle, it's such a great looking animal.

SGraves155woodsie,
Nearly all the Ibex-goats in Texas are crossed with Spanish goats. If the horns lack the large anterior knobs and the ears hang down--even in death, then it is almost certainly a cross.
There are a few pure Ibex on High-fenced areas, and then there are the pure Persian Ibex in the Florida Mountains in southern New Mexico along the mexico border.
http://www.kauffmanoutfitters.com/top10ibex.php I would suggest you check out some web-sites that have pictures of Ibex crosses, and see what you think. A large pure Ibex should rightly be considered for a full-body mount, but the much more common Ibex crosses might be better done as a shoulder mount, and money saved for another hunt. Just my opinion.
It's a nice trophy, no matter whether it's pure or not.
A bit on the "YO ibex":

SevensWoodsie,
I would agree with SSGraves that your ibex is a hybrid (as are all the one's pictured in the links). It doesn't detract from the beauty of the animal though. Your ibex exhibits great coloration and has a nice set of horns and I think is well deserving of a full body mount.
It may interest you to know though that even back in the home range of the Persian (aka Bezoar) ibex, there are hybridization between goats. I've attached some photos from Caprinae Safaris' website:

And here are two examples of the hybrid ibex:
I still think it is a great looking animal you should be proud of and I'd still say get a full body mount of it!

Equinsu OchaThe pics of the goats in the links that Woodsie provided are more Spanish/Boer goat than they are ibex... They don't even begin to resemble a pure ibex of any species. They are just regular billy goats. Just because the outfitter is selling them as ibex doesn't mean they are.
There are NO pure free ranging ibex anywhere in the United States other than the PURE bezoar ibex found in the Florida mountains in southern New Mexico.
Plenty of goats in TX with a little bit of ibex blood floating around in them though. Just enough bred into them to give them a set of horns that "resembles" an ibex of some sort. If you want a PURE ibex in TX, you'll have to hunt behind a high fence. Plenty of diff ranches in the hill country that do offer them..

Congrats on a very impressive trophy that will certainly make a very impressive mount!
One option for other than a lifesize would be a 1/2 lifesize.
We recently did this one for a client that had some space issues.
1/2 lifesize ibexBest regards
