Wow, very nice. Great photo as well. The blue background really shows off the mount.

Great work sculptor. It has to bother you as much as me when someone kills one of those once in a lifetime type trophies and then just says he wants the plain jane straight mount. I just did a stunning dall for a guy 2 weeks ago. Tried to talk him into all types of great options for presentation and at the end of it he just goes "Well I really don't know where I'm gonna put it so just mount it straight." To me its like getting a date with the rose bowl queen and all you do is take her to McDonalds. Keep up the good work. Ben

On the other hand.....I am not sure a ram like that needs to be "fancied up" to be damned impressive. I can absolutely appreciate the "let this one speak for itself" attitude of a straight mount like that.

Nobody pays to see Miss America in an amish dress with no make-up. Straight mounts are dull and dead. It doesn't have to be a huge lifesize mount fighting off two wolves, with icesickles hanging all over it. Heck just ten degrees of turn would make mounts jump to life. Just like all yall I do what the customer asks. But the truth is very often customers micromanage everything to death and have zero vision themselves. Take some professional advice from the guy you pay because he is a professional. Again, Sculptor I hope you understand I am not bashing your work. I think you did a good job on this mount and most of the others I have seen you post here.

I have mounted a grand slam plus other rams for this same client and he has everything with a slight turn or straight on. This dall is a slight turn. "The customer is always right." Thanks for the compliments. After being a full time taxidermist since 1970 I still enjoy it, esp. when I get to work on great trophies.

I like that pic a lot more. Has a lot more personality. In reality most customers are right a lot of the time. If the customer was allways right I would be out of business and maybe even in jail.

In the last few years I have mounted several rams as wall pedestals with some habitat and when clients see a sample mount in my showroom they usually want something simular.

Smarter: I use a taxidermist in PHX called Southwest Wildlife; I just drop stuff off and tell him to use his artistic talents. I am never disappointed. Plus, he comes over to deliver the big stuff, so he knows my TR. I used to ask for a 10% discount because of my volume, but now I figure he earns ever penny with his high service. I don't agree with your contentious views all the time, but I do agree 100% with your statement about straight on mounts. A very slight turn just makes all the difference. I have a topi and tahr that are both straight on, and they look like they are staring into bright headlights.
