Nice, are those eyes standard or do you have to pay more for that ? What kind of eyes do other taxidermists use ?

An accuracy question. Nice mount but I have seen some folks occasionally beat up for posting something that might not happen in nature. Would it be correct for this cat's claws to be fully extended like that or do most taxidermists mount the cats with claws showing for effect?

Just curious.

Dennis, I'm very pleased with this mount. You captured the intent look I wanted. The base was better than expected, simple, yet capturing what I asked for and more. He will have a place next to my Lion. Now we need to get you one! Thank you for doing another great piece for me.
Regards,
David

Allright, since no one else will say it, I will. Dennis, That is decent production work (if that is all your clientele demands), but it looks like the leopard has rigor mortis.

Also, you missed matching the skin to the center of the leopards back by 1"-2", it appears the hide is twisted. As for the feet, you need to work on forming the feet to the habitat, so it looks like the cat is alive. And for the extended claws while walking, what did you call it? "Artistic License"? A disservice to your client, whether he knows it or not.

It's amazing what you can see when you post the entire animal, rather than just a close up of the face. Wink

I'd agree with 505. Body looks very stiff and rigid and the paws aren't conforming to the terrain under its feet. The paws should wrap around the form of the log and the rocks a bit instead of being flat bottomed. Check out the the Soucy cats in another recent post.

Thanks Guys, I sure can make those small adjustments on the next piece.
In fact, I'll soak this ones feet back up this weekend and take care of that, it's easy enough to do.
Will repost more pics after the adjustment on the feet.
