Naw according to most DNRs they are all male traveling from SD. Traveling hundreds of miles a day because there can't be more then one.

15 years ago Nebraska was disclaiming all sightings, now they have a season.

Oklahoma did the same thing, said no way they're in the State for years. Now there's still no season, but you're allowed to shoot them if they're threatening your cattle or pets. They've trapped a few of them around the state and a few more have been killed by people or cars. They're obviously here. That being said - I doubt there are many in the state, but every hunter at the deer check station swears he's seen one! It is fairly obvious that cougar are extending their range. It probabaly has to do with them making use of the increased prey base base caused by the rapidly expanding whitetail populations. 465H&H

I saw one in Southern Oklahoma within a mile of the Red River back in 1986 when I was in high school. We were spotlighting for pigs (we had the game warden and landowner's permission) and he was about 100 yards away in the tree line. Neither the game warden, the landowner, or our parents believed us at first, but we took my father out the next day and showed him the tracks. He still talks about it today. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life." You're welcome, all you Easterner's can take as many as you want. The Black Hills in western South Dakota has a core Mt Lion population. Which means we are going to repopulate the eastern US with Mt Lions. All it will take is to create another core population east of us. Which state wants to volunteer? All it takes is semi-remote areas and a big prey base. The state DNR's are creating a DNA database to hopefully shed some light on the wanderings of Mt Lions. I have a theory that the hunting bans on the far left coast has contributed to re-populating the Mt Lions through out the US. Commiefornia actually kills more depradation/problem lions now, than they ever did during legal hunting seasons. I do not believe that it too far fetched to theorize that Mt Lion populations grew and spread east from Ca, WA, & OR. Especially given the habit of Mt Lions wandering long distances to establish their own territory.

I do not believe they kill wolves. Our own GFP has finally set a quota for our season that I believe will actually have an impact on our population. If that happens, the wandering should be reduced, but not after approx 5 years of spreading the wealth.

We have had them things up here for a long time. The DNR kept saying no there are no Cougars in Wi.Now they acknowledge they are here because of a couple road kills and pics keep popping up on game cameras.
