When we hunted red stag in Argentina a few years ago Mrs Blacktailer wanted to get a blackbuck. Due to some kind of miscommunication there were no blackbuck available so she took a fallow deer. She is still interested in taking a blackbuck so we were wondering who has blackbuck in Texas, what the quality is and what the hunt experience has been.
Of course there is always the possibility of returning to Patagonia for another stag and blackbuck. Big Grin

They are all over the Hill Country. Try your favorite internet search engine.

You can find them in north Texas as well. One of my client's cousins has this place: http://www.sawbladeranch.com/index.htm

Is the trip only for Blackbuck or might you do something else? If decide what part of the state you'd like to visit for other reasons you could then search for hunts in that area. Might simplify things a bit.

If you're going to TX soon, I'd add a Scimitar Horned Oryx or Addax before you can't.

Both of these animals has some of the sweetest meat I've ever tasted. I'm not throwing rocks at the blackbuck, but I'd have to say the addax and SHO are marvelous!

Looking for good trophy quality although we don't care about record books. I would probably take the opportunity to hunt whitetail as I have never done that but don't want to sit in a blind over a feeder. And pigs are always fun.

Don't pay more than $1500 for a trophy, sometimes they can be had for less.

There are some real crazy prices out there. People paying them just perpetuates the outrageous prices. Walk away and keep looking.

There are hundreds of ranches throughout Texas and due to the fires and extreme drought situation, you might find a ranch that is desperate to thin down their herd before they die of starvation. Hay is near impossible to find; grass is long gone and feed prices have soared into the stratosphere. Wade Adabie and a few other guys here deal with exotics or you can contact the Exotic Wildlife Assoc. for some names and contact info. If you want a nice trophy, your looking for a buck with 20" or better horn length (measured around the curl). You may well find them in a few other States. Good hunting, David
