Northern California ranchers are facing nightly wolf attacks and cattle losses that UC Davis researchers estimate can reach $162,000 for each wolf every year. In this episode, Rick Roberti, President of the California Cattlemen’s Association, Paul Roen, Chair of the Sierra County Board of Supervisors, and Michael Fisher, Sierra County Sheriff-Coroner discuss how the crisis is forcing hard choices for ranchers and creating safety concerns for nearby towns.

The wolves in Sierra Valley are a catastrophe for cattle ranchers and wildlife. There are a lot more wolves in California than is being acknowledged. I saw a wolf last year in high desert country while pronghorn hunting. A friend who is a guide saw one 20 miles away during same pronghorn season.

I spoke with a good friend who works in government and he just told me the word is that our fish and wildlife department has spent over $3 million in the last six months protecting the wolves in Sierra Valley. That’s $500,000 a month to make sure those precious wolves don’t get killed.

When you combine the wolves with the USA’s highest black bear AND mountain lion populations it’s pretty obvious where our wildlife populations are headed. And how heavily cattle will continue to be preyed upon. It’s a bad deal all the way around.

Reducing the game population is just another tactic to reduce the human hunter population.

That reduces the number and reasons to own firearms.

The ultimate goal is to disarm the American public so control is easier.
