DLSThe wolves in Sierra Valley are a catastrophe for cattle ranchers and wildlife. There are a lot more wolves in California than is being acknowledged. I saw a wolf last year in high desert country while pronghorn hunting. A friend who is a guide saw one 20 miles away during same pronghorn season.
I spoke with a good friend who works in government and he just told me the word is that our fish and wildlife department has spent over $3 million in the last six months protecting the wolves in Sierra Valley. That’s $500,000 a month to make sure those precious wolves don’t get killed.
When you combine the wolves with the USA’s highest black bear AND mountain lion populations it’s pretty obvious where our wildlife populations are headed. And how heavily cattle will continue to be preyed upon. It’s a bad deal all the way around.
