Gentlemen, 2 or 3 of us are looking to hunt some of those huge black bears in North Carolina in 2026. Prefer spot & stalk, if it makes sense. Any info from all sources, good/bad or indifferent greatly appreciated. Rob

A guy named Capt. Purvis has posted bear hunts in NC on AR in the past. He gets some real monsters. Look him up. Those hunts for big black bears aren't cheap. Tom Z NRA Life Member

Keep in mind that Eastern NC is not exactly the best territory for what most think of when it comes to "spot and stalk". Its wet, flat, and where you find bears tends to be heavily vegetated,

Eastern NC bear hunts are almost always with dogs.

I live in Eastern North Carolina and I can tell you that there are many hunts that are not with dogs. You can spot and stalk or hunt from stands. The big boars are taken first thing in the morning coming out of agricultural fields. Hyde County, Tyrell County, Bladen County and Pamilico County have very big bears taken with spot and stalk or out of stands.
