I shoot them 225gr Accubond bullets out of my 338 RUM and was thinking about using them on Moose. Do you think they will hold up?

7 MAG, somewhere in this mess of a thread it was mentioned to load your partners rifle for him, and have him shoot. Fire a live one or two then have him drop the hammer on a dead one. He'll likely flinch so bad he'll be embarassed. This itself should open the door to let you help him. If he won't listen, won't practice with a lighter rifle, and still want's to blame the bullets; let it go. Don't reload for him. Factory ammo will likely be hotter anyway.
He should practice with a couple different smallbore rifles. Have him switch back and forth between big and small at the range. Do lot's of informal plinking.

If he is willing to make some changes, have him shoot a few deer with a quarterbore. This will prove the "need" of a thirty caliber magnum for deer is a crock of crap, and he'll likely be willing to try a caliber / cartridge thats far easier for him to shoot. I think a .257 Roberts, .260 R, 6.5 Swede, or a similar performance round would do a lot for his confidence.

I bet he could find a buyer for his pointless .300 !

I know a guy who is so recoil shy he hunts deer with a .243W and he's about 6'3" and at least 270 lbs. It's a mental thing I think. I also believe conditioning can overcome flinching for most. Nate

I took Federal VS w/Nosler 160 grain Accubonds to Africa last summer and experienced excellent results on Impala, Black Wildebeast, Blesbok, Nyala, Bushbuck, Warthog, Red Hartebeast, Red Lechwe, Gemsbok and Kudu. All but the B. Wildebeast were one shot kills with very little trailing (5-40 yards). The Wildebeast took 3 shots (220-240 yds), all in the vitals but they are known to be tough animals. I used the same factory load on Whitetails this year...deadly. I'm taking them to Zimbabwe in 3 weeks. Excellent bullet IMHO.

The 200 gr. Accubond gave me the best accuracy of any bullet I've tried in my .300 Weatherby from 150 to 200 grains from various manufacturers, and that includes Sierra Matchkings.

Nice animal pictures but I dunno about the target - you got a couple shots with some real bad vertical stringing along the left of the target, plus the bullets did not even go into the backing - looks like pretty poor penetration to me.

Musta got lucky with the animals, I guess.

He was one excited little boy. He eats, drinks and sleeps the thought of being able to hunt them himself, but he his perfectly happy to be with me while I do it no matter what it is from squirrels to Moose.
