Thats funny. You obviously believe the Hollywood version of WWII.I am certain that there would be tens of thousands of British and Empire troops fighting in Europe, Nth Africa ,Sth Pacfic, Burma who might disagree with that rather myopic Hollywood version. Some have not forgotten what a hash of the job the likes of Lieutenant General Mark Clark did in Italy. Lets not forget Major General John P. Lucas commander at Anzio was relieved of duty and sent home in disgrace. As with WWI.It was more like a case of better late than never.

Jools, why don't you give it a rest? Try contributing to the thread and not verbally sparring with everyone. Enough is enough, already. This back and forth is getting tiring. Try sticking to the topic at hand, gentlemen. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Gents, as may been seen from his command of the English language the individual above barely finished school and has not climbed much higher up the educational or social ladder since. Argue with him by all means but please don't ever think the loud mediocrity represents anything apart from the bottom feeding element of UK shooting. He'll be flogging crappy German public boar hunts at a mark up to you next.

Seriously, does anyone even know the topic?? Does it still even have a topic? And where does this thread really belong? It's no longer about "American Big Game Hunting". In fact it's not about "Hunting" at all. And we can't transfer it to the Political Forum, because it's not about politics either. And we can't send it over to Walter's place, because I don't think he'd have it. And AR doesn't have a "general non-operational conversation" or "mindless chit-chat" board, so we can't banish it there. As far as I can tell, it's a thread about nothing. There is no subject. You can kinda jump right in it anywhere without missing anything or having to catch up. Sorta like your basic garden variety soap on TV. Kinda like "Mad Men" or something even less inspired. So we're stuck with it here?! If I was the moderator, you'd just be amazed how fast I'd pull the plug and smoke this one...

The topic before things went south, concerned whether or not smoking, or more accurately the odors associated with smoking had any appreciable effect on game movement. Some believe it does while others believe it does not. The problem with shutting down discussions, even ones as meaningless as this begins bordering on censorship. Not meanming to offend anyone, but everyone has the perogative of simply not making comments on a thread they do not like or agree with. That is one of the main problems with the various regional sites. A topic goes off course or a moderator decides they do not like the topic or feel it is not worthy, "In Their Opinion" of being on the site, so it gets shut down or deleted. That is why some people should never be a moderator on an internet site. They let the "Power" go to their head and that is why so many sites go down hill. If people will just quit replying a thread will die, even I know when to do that. As long as the discussion is being done civilly, why shit can it? Someone might jump in with actual information and put things in a whole new light or make someone re-think their position. Just from my experience, when locking and deleting discussions over relatively minor stuff gets started, it is real easy for it to get out of hand as the line of what is and what is not "acceptable" gets blurred really quicklly, and moderation gets too heavy handed. JMO. Even the rocks don't last forever.

Nice to see someone from his own home turf reinforce what we all over here know already. I don't see his nonsense on the European forum which seems to stay pretty civil (and have discussions about drunken pub nights and the associated debauchery which I enjoy). They just opened a BBC a few miles from my house....everything from London Pride to Marston's Pedigree to Bombardier on tap and a ton more.....next year I paln to be drinking 'em right in London town.
