My step-father, Don Workman, killed this buck on our property in the SE part of the state on the last day of gun season. He was using his trusty Remington 760 in 30.06 loaded with factory green box Remington 180 grain loads. The shot was about 30 yards from an elevated box blind over looking a food plot. The deer dropped in his tracks from a high spine shot. We have owned the property for the past 28 years and taken some nice deer over that time. However, this is the largest buck taken. On that day the wind was blowing about 30 miles an hour and it was 72 degrees at daylight. Just proves you never know when the big ones will show up.

Serious deer that one!

looks like a nice mule deer! I always like someone willing to stick out "bad" conditions. Maybe you should get a mold of the antlers and mount it with a mule deer cape, set them together, and ask people which one is the reproduction...

I've hunted in several areas of the state including the SE and that is probably the best buck that I've seen. Congrats!

Proof that good guys finish first. My stepdad is one of the best men and nicest fellows you could ever hope to meet. He deserves a great buck like this considering all the work and effort he has put into our place over the years.
