I do have a few snaps on my cellphone but they are of poor quality and I judge that they would be of absoutely no interest to anyone other than those there at the time the snap was taken. I'd also have to figure out how to down load them.

My father who has hunted for over 70 years, he has a handfull of photos and his gold medal heads. He has never been one for snapping every deer, fox, hare, rabbit , squirell or game bird that fell to his gun. But he can recall most. Which is good enough for him and the rest of the family.

I personally don't mind if people feel the need to share their photo's be they good or bad. just don't expect people to enthuse about them as lets be honest here the vast majority of them are deadly boring. Pun intended.

The moose on a noose being a classic example. Let me say first that I mean this in no way as a personal critism. Its not what one might deem a brillent photo either in subject matter, composition or quality. But I'm sure it does its thing for those that were there. As I said at the time a dead moose is a dead moose. I'm glad that you got it and enjoyed the getting. But seeing the photo did nothing to enhance that for me as an individual.

Just my take on dead animal photos.

Jools, the point of the photo was to show the size of the animal. Nothing more, nothing less. You have already twice expressed your displeasure for the photo, and quite frankly Jools, I don't give a damn. You were the only one to be critical -- once again, offering nothing positive or nothing of your own. Now unless you have been living in a cave or under a rock for the last decade, I have trouble buying that you don't have the means to photograph game. Nearly ever cellular phone is now equipped to not only take photos, but to shoot video as well. A photobucket account is free and takes moments to set up. If you can figure out how to quote people here and deride them, you certainly possess the capability to open and operate a photobucket account. Also, old photos can be scanned easily and scanners don't cost much.

Now tell why it is that you responded to my post? Was it directed at you or did you simply realize that the shoe was a perfect fit?

Giving a damn, either way, is a personal right, and one I exercise too. I acknowledge your right to post your photo. Let me assure you I have no feelings of displeasure at your excercising of the right. I just feel personally that it did nothing for my appreciation of the account of your moose hunt. Was the cow exceptional in anyway, be it weight, configuration, demeanour, behaviour? I find it interesting that you feel that my expressing a mildly negative POV warrents some kind of postive input from me as way of recompence.

Believe it or not I don't have a means of downloading any photo's. I've never felt or seen the need for it. Maybe one day I will. Until then I'll just have to get by the old school way. Yes my phone does everything you say and I'm sure it does much more. As I rarely take photo's and havenever felt the need to download them I don't have a photobucket account and doubt I will for some considerable time.. I have shared phot's with others via blue tooth. if thats any concilation so I'm not a complete tecnophobe. At present I have no need for a scanner, so regardless off cost, one will have to remain off my must have list.

I responded because rightly or wrongly I felt you believed I fitted into your critical group. Your subsequent posts have done nothing to deminish that belief. It aslso as an aside helped provide a counter to the thrust of your critisms. A mild and nonconfrontaional way of playing devils advocate if you like. Based loosely upon a personal POV of course.

Boy can't you just feel the love on this place. shocker shocker shocker

To anyone/everyone still following this thread, Thank You for all the positive comments and pictures. When any of us stop having pride in the game we kill and stop being willing to share pictures of the kills with others, we need to seriously consider giving up the sport.

Why some people only seem to have the ability to criticize and berate and belittle others and make unfounded accusations about others they no absolutely nothing about, is something none of us can do anything about.

The one thing we can do is realize some folks are just that way. What they think or how they feel or how many out right lies that tell, in the grand scheme of life, Does Not Matter. They are entitled to their opinion and this is an open forum so they are free to express their opinion.

What everyone, including themselves need to remember is that not everyone shares their opinion, this thread proves that. For some reason these folks want to try and shame everyone and make them feel guilty about what they choose to shoot, and that is really pathetic.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

Is there a specific reason why you have not boarded off the ceiling of the cabin?

Thanks Jools. The ceiling was like that so I just left it over the kitchen area. It has 2 lofts you can use for sleeping or storage. I did knock out the ceiling in the middle by the futon and chair just to open it up a little. Of course the support beams had to stay.

Thanks GW. It is my 257R. He was the only legal deer I saw last year on my land in East Texas. Antler restricted county and I didn't see a monster so I took the funny looking deer with a nub on one side. He was the tastiest deer I've had in some time. Not sure if it was the processor in Mount Pleasant or the deer.

Scott:

If you want more venison and don't want to shoot them on your place, this coming season, drive 50 miles N, M/L, and come up to my ranch during doe season and shoot all the does you legally can and any pigs that walk by too. I need to kill a lot more does now that I've dropped my Level 3 GM status and don't have the 20 to 40 doe permits a year I used to have. My son will be off to college and I am hunting less and less these days.

I didn't see any does the 4 days they were legal.

Okay Tony, it is your choice, but in looking at things, there have been 1646 views of this thread, 146 responses, 40 voters on the poll, 39 voting that any picture is okay, 1 voting that "Trophies Only should be posted".

So do we just give in to the folks that want to find fault with the animals we choose to shoot or be proud of?

Somehow I did not figure that you would be that willing to give in to the opinions of a few individuals that have some ax to grind and have chosen this site to do such.

I guess those of us that don't shoot anything that measures up to a few other individuals standards should just leave the site.

I havent posted any pics here because i dont live in the USA , so my hunting pics arent relevant to the forum. I do post a few pics in the NZ/Australian forum from time to time tho.

Mr Jools appears to be endowed with a big mouth and a small brain. No doubt several of his other appendages are equally small in relation to his mouth , but thats pretty irelevant - just like their owner.

If you want to slag other people off , at least have the courtesy to post pics of your own so we can reciprocate. In this day and age any 5 year old can post pics on the net , phone pics or camera pics so Jools - either put up or F*ck off.

Muzza, did not mean to make anyone think this thread was just about posting pictures of American game. I just put it in this topic area.

My point is/was, that any of us that hunt and are proud of our kills, should be able to post the pictures of those kills, be they record book animals, DG covered in the blood and entrails of their latest victims or a brace of hares, without being given grief over it.

Don't know about you or anyone else, but I hunt because I like to and do it for my pleasure, not the Peanut Galleries or Kangaroo Court or a Committee of some sort.

If someone else does not feel that way or agree with that, Good for them, that is their priveledge. I just don't think that they should publicly belittle someone over posting pictures of the game they killed and are proud of.

Hunting has enough detractors as it is in my opinion, do we really need to create more dividing lines among our numbers over something as insignifigant as the animals we choose to shoot, the pictures of the animals we shoot, or what we, as individuals, consider a trophy.

Your brain appears to be as muzzy as your mouth is big. Let me repeat a few facts so that we might stand a chance of getting things clear. A forlore hope I admit given your incredible incapacity to grasp simple facts but here goes. I don't have the necessary photographic equipment or computer equipment to post pictures. I also don't have a photobucket or similar account. In fact at present I have the desire or need to have any of them. So I guess you'll just have to go "sit on it" whilst you wait for the opportunity to see a photo of mine.

The only person slagging any one off is you.

RAndy

I can see you're a sensitive soul. Perhaps a little over sensitive.

Fromm what I have seen no one is rediculing anyone. If some people don't care to see endless pictures of boring subject matter. Namely one dead deer after another, that is their preogative, just as it is their preogative to tell the world they find it boring, mundane, or trite. The fact that the picture might be of someones pride and joy doesn't matter.

Bleating that such non appreciation is derisive and potentially fractious to the harmony that should exisit within the hunting fraternity is never going to make it happen. We don't live in that eutopian world mate. Get real. Get on the programm and focus on what you do. It works for me.

I have a legitimate question for the Moderator of this Forum. Why is one person allowed to take over a thread and fuck it up like this one guy has done and it appears to happen on every thread where he posts? The SOB should be banned if he can't get along on a thread like this where it's all about the whole reason a hunting website like this exists. If the SOB was on this side of the pond, I think there would be a welcoming committee at the door of this plick!!! Now I'm sure the queen will come back with some more BS, but IMHO an azzhole like this PETA member ought to be given the boot because he's ruining a damn good website with all his GD nonsense!
