***Never heard of South Park, but I've heard of the Simpsons. I very seldom ever watch anything but sports or hunting on TV, so I guess it was a slam on CHC and I'll leave it at that!

Drop camps that are just as successful as guided hunts why would you ever get a guided hunt but let me know who it is as I would love to shoot another elk.

Really simple answer, price. The guys that do and have been doing these hunts for years have the experience and most of the equipment. The folks that do the guided hunts are older guys or folks that do not have the time or experience or are physically fit enough to do a D-I-Y Drop Camp hunt.

I will do a D-I-Y for white tail or muley's or pronghorns. Hell I might even try it with caribou. But I ain't going to attempt such a thing with elk or moose.

There are reasons, legitimate reasons WHY people choose to do things the way they do. Not every hunter has the physical ability or knowledge of being able to do a D-I-Y drop camp hunt for elk. It is not my fault, nor is it the fault of the outfitter I hunt with that he has chosen over the years to do the best he can at getting ALL of his clients, drop camp or fully guided, set up for a good hunt with opportunities at quality animals.

Not everyone approaches business the exact same way. He limits the number of guided hunts he does each year and offers the other areas he hunts for drop camps. He does not depend on guiding for his living, that makes a big difference right there. In fact, the more folks that do the drop camp hunts, the less actual work he has to do. If he can put his drop camp hunters into areas where they can kill good animals, guess what, they will re-book year after year after year. Same with his guided hunts, the vast majority of his business is repeat clients. I have a hard time understanding what is wrong with that concept.

You help a person have a good/great hunt and they re-book with you every year or every other year, it makes life easier on the outfitter/guide and the clients, because everyone knows what to expect.

Personally, and I really do not care what anyone else thinks, but I am very leery of guides/outfitters that never have repeat clients.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

Now there is something I can agree with.
