This is a complete joke. He hunted lion in a state where it is legal. It is times like this that I am ashamed to be a Californian. Our state leaders, if that is what they are called, are a bunch of liberal idiots. You want to fire a guy for doing something that is legal in another State? Go ahead. I guarantee if this happens there will be a lawsuit filed by him for wrongful termination. People wonder around here in Monterey County, " What happened to all the deer we used to see?" Well two things, first the goddamn Mexican field workers shoot them when they want till they get caught. But at least the beaners each them. Second, no legal hunting of lions. Lions over populate and eat their favorite food.....DEER! Now no more deer. What do the lions eat? Well that little poodle Fluffy and her pal Cleo the tabby look good to me. Hey Farmer Jones has a new flock of lambs on his 30 acres in Carmel Valley lets take a couple of those for a snack.

n case you were not aware or would like to help. Call to Action – Save Fish & Game Commissioner Richards Posted on February 29, 2012 by admin Anti-hunting groups, led by the Humane Society of the United States, have instigated a campaign to remove Fish and Game Commission President, Dan Richards from his seat on the Commission. Why? Because he went on a LEGAL mountain lion hunt at the Flying B Ranch in Idaho and successfully harvested a lion! The controversy broke out when a photograph of Richards holding the dead cat was recently published in Western Outdoor News. Anti-hunting groups are questioning Richards’ judgment in hunting a lion out-of-state even though it is completely legal to do so in Idaho! The battle has intensified, and now a letter has been sent from the State Assembly, signed by 40 Democrat members, demanding that Richards resign. The legislature does have the ability to remove a sitting commissioner through the Resolution process with a simple majority vote by both the Assembly and Senate. A Joint Resolution could be proposed at any time. Commissioner Richards is a dedicated advocate for hunters and anglers in California and he needs your help NOW! This attack against Commissioner Richards is a punitive strike against all sportsmen in California! Please join CRPA in supporting Commissioner Richards by ACTING NOW! HERE IS HOW YOU CAN PERSONALLY HELP COMISSIONER RICHARDS: - Attend the March 7, 2012 Fish and Game Commission meeting, in Riverside, and voice your support for Commissioner Richards during the public forum. It is anticipated that anti-hunting groups will be present asking for his resignation. (See the Commission’s March 7 agenda at www.fgc.ca.gov). - Call (916-653-4899) and email the Fish and Game Commission (fgcfgc.ca.gov) and voice your support for Commissioner Richards to stay on the Commission. CRPA has been in contact with the Fish and Game Commission and they indicated that phone calls are not being recorded. To get your voice heard, it is recommended to email your support fgcfgc.ca.gov. - Call, write, and email your Assembly and Senate members and voice your support for Commissioner Richards http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html to find your legislator. - Call, write, or email the Governor http://gov.ca.gov/m_contact.php and voice your support for Commissioner Richards. Even as a cop, I travel the posted speed limit in states where it's 75-80 mph, even though those speeds are illegal in the state I work in. Nonetheless, a person in his position should have seen it coming. **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

The only problem with your analogy, is will your bosses threaten to fire you if they find out you have been driving the posted speed limit in another state even though it is illegal where you work, No, they are not and you know that. California, at least that division of their goverment, is attempting to control this persons private life. It would be one thing if what he did was illegal where he did it. It wasn't. I guess that means that all those public employees who drive out of California to go gambling in Las Vegas should also be dismissed. .

That's exactly what Richards wrote in his letter stating that if all the legislators that went to Vegas and gambled were dismissed there wouldn't be a Legislature, LOL!

Thanks for posting that link Tony. Everyone that thinks the anti's are not winning the battle needs to check out that story. I really feel bad for California hunters. Richards won the battle, but those against hunting are going to win the war. I am really tired of seeing our sport die and our country die. Even the rocks don't last forever.

I couldn't agree with you more. There are an awful lot of anti-hunting groups that want to end hunting. They are winning the battle I'm afraid. It's a damn shame!

What???? Jeez, I'd better look this up, it sounds wrong but anything's possible these days. He owes them nothing, not even an oops. They're not especially endangered here either, except where development has pushed them out. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. what amazes me istting here in Canada is the fact that in Califonia the USDA is killing piles of Mtn Lions with the use of hounds and traps. All of these lions are pulled under a bush and left to rot as the hide/skulls/ and meat can not be used. These stupid tax payers think they are saving the cougars but infact they are paying for the cougar management with their own money, much like Oregon. This needs to be brought to the attention of the taxpayers and maybe things will change. Management should be done by the sportsmen not the government!!! You're right! But I think the taxpayers already know this - it is well-reported when "trained hunters" are paid to do culls, yet for some reason they won't let hunters buy licenses and do it. With a few exceptions - I think in NJ where the black bear population got out of control the state opened up hunting. But there were those who thought hunters shouldn't do it. I dunno. Oxon

Oxon, Your average liberal is to stupid to fully understand this. They can't grasp the fact that their money pays for the death of these animals they think they are protecting. An add campain on the tube showing a cougar trapped, shot and disposed would get their attention. In Oregon it cost $3200/ cougar to kill the management quotas. Instead the sportsmen should by tags and utilize the harvested animals. All this BS started with the british in Africa when they only allowed quote professtional hunters to kill game in the reserves. All along paying hunters should have been allowed. Millions and milions of game managment dollars spent and many more not recived from this stuip policy. That doesn't matter to the antis there only goal is to stop hunting.

hillbilly, people DO know and Do understand it. It's just that they want to have it done "officially" for some reason. Money is not the issue with them. Too many people are too far removed from the land - they don't get it. Oxon

I'm convinced that our hunting reminds them that they also descend from primitive stock. They believe "civilized" and "enlightened" people should be above such urges. God forbid if we should enjoy what we do. For them, hunting is only permissible if it is done by "government." Bill Quimby

Maybe the good Sneator, if he is guilty of DUI, should be removed from his position like he did to the Commissioner who didn't even do anything illegal!
