personly i don't have one yet, but i hope to get a 12/76-7x57R combo within 2 years.

It is a wonderful pre-war Triebel 16/16/8X57JR Dural receiver drilling that was plated by the former owner. I had thought about removing the gold wash, but it kind of grew on me. That's the drilling I re-chambered from 8X57-360 to the standard JR. The gun fits me like it was made just for me and is quite accurate with the period Hensoldt 4X in claw mounts.

It would be the last drilling to sell, should things get there.

They are lovely. Now...how do I get one?

Here is my Merkel O/U with two sets of barrels, 16/7x57R and 16/16. Good for fur and feathers!

Talk to Dale Nygaard - DLN or Greg - brayhaven here on the forum. Both can get you a good drilling.

I have the same scope on my Sauer 3000 12ga/30-06 drilling; the one I had the forend trimmed.

I have the #4 reticle and am quite happy with the scope.

Nah, when the under barrel's a 9.3x74R you don't need to bother dicking around with 20 ga. slugs.

Balance!? There's no balance when you've gpt a Scope on and an Insert Barrel installed - just plain heavy but them again I normally just have to take a small stroll to a High Seat with this Boomer.

Now when you take all the gadgets off & out; it handles like a 20 gauge SxS shotgun.

Na ja, ein bisschen uebertrieben!! I expect this gun is at least 3.2 kg without all the extras (and probably near 4.5 kg with them). I like my 20 gauge guns a tad lighter.

I hope you'll be posting a picture of your "Bock" for us...with drilling, of course.

Chris passed the Hunting Exam on Saturday in Graf - getting him sorted out now with Dad's hand-me-downs. I gave him the Brno 12/7x57R Combo Rifle, with Zeiss 2.5-10x48; so he's off to a good start.

Nice gun Gerry, must be a newer aquisition as I don't remember that one.

Combo in action, Namibia June 2009:



1920s-vintage Emil Kerner 16/8x57JR loaded with 200 grain Woodleighs in RWS brass. Duiker taken at about 120 yards right at sundown with full moon rising, beautiful!

After seeing Gerry's zebra rug photo's I feel compelled to join in.

I don't know how I missed this thread a couple months ago.

Hey Steve, Looks like you gad a nice hunt. Regarding the Emil Kerner guns, they are amazingly well made. I have a Kerner drilling in 20 ga/6.5X58R. The workmanship inside is the best of any drilling I've ever seen. I've owned & worked on many drillings in 40 years of gunsmithing and hunting with drillings. I've been inside a half dozen Kerners and they are all extremely well made.

I wonder what the SCI score of the "dik-dik" would be?

I have just got my threeshooter back from the smith,

modern clawmounts are now done, he had to resolder the whole rib to make it lika new again.








My Merkel in different steps of redoing,

now I have a true hunters rifle for the next 40-50 years.

By the way I have no words to express how much I like some of the other sticks being shown here.
