Thread that relates to this thread

I sent a PM to Lane, Aaron, and Fujotupu regarding my feelings on Fujotupu's first post on this hunt report.

I respect the passion, hard work, time, energy, and most of all the information the three of you have offered here on AR regarding Lion hunting.

I personally did not think Fujotupu's post was warranted based on some very limited information given by the hunter.

IMHO it would have been better to perhaps send a PM to the hunter asking a few more questions before concluding a pride holding male was shot and stating such in public.

Yes, an apology has been offered yet even in the apology excuses were made for the post itself such as........

"My apologies for the misunderstanding which came about as a result of insufficient and/or misleading information on your part."

So it's the hunter's fault you did not seek further information?

thumbdown

Again, your cause should also be all of our cause as hunters and conservationist but a misinformed post as demonstrated in that thread does the cause no good.

There are many who have posted here they will never put up a hunt report.

Do you wonder why?

SERIOUSLY!!

Cheers
Jim

Jim,
I just spoke with Aaron on the phone and he has not even opened AR today much less contributed to that thread. All I said was that Fujo was very informed and knowledgeable person in regards to lion hunting.

I am NOT sure really where you are comimg from Jim???

Maybe just a PM to Fujo would suffice for your message???

I respectfully disagree. Yes I did send a PM to Fujo, expressing the same thing I did you and Aaron.

I included you and Aaron in the PM because of your active stance on Lion conservation. Again I commend you on the work and the dissemination of information.

But for Fujo to read three short paragraphs and decide a pride male was shot, post that as an “expert” on a public forum, and then later recant by apologizing for a lack of information by the hunter is just not right.

If this tactic keeps up the hunt report section is going to become pretty barren and that would be a shame.

If my feelings are not clear now feel free to ask a specific question and I will try and be clearer.

I think that Fujo was cordial and has the right to express his opinion...simple as that.

At least Fujo did not call anyone a prick or reference anyone to stepping on their dick. I commend him for that.

Jim,

From Miko's inital post...I could see Fujo's point.

Al Fujo said was:

In all likelihood and with some regret you also took the male lion of the pride you so vividly described.

Fujotupu,
Thank you for your opinion and too bad you were not one of the guys sitting next to me, then you would understand. I understand how you jumped to a conclusion which is really a result of my bad writting skills. The Lion was not part of a pride, as Jeff mentioned, rather just an old Lion. There were two circumstances that I vividly remember the first being so close to a lioness and second many days later, like the last day, taking a specific Lion as part of conservation. Please do not jump to conclusions but rather understand and be greatful that we have PH's who care about conservation and obide by the rules.

I do not claim to be writter nor an experienced Lion hunter and I was amazed at the professional manner that these PH's exhibited. They have tought me a good deal and were willing to share in an experience with high risk. This being my 5th Safari and the fourth of the big five I think I have some knowledge to know when I see good PH's. I simply wanted to thank them and inform other AR members of there professionalism.

Miko

Miko,

My apologies for the misunderstanding which came about as a result of insufficient and/or misleading information on your part.
When one reads what you wrote in your opening thread, the Lion taken was in all likelihood the father of those cubs - that you later gave a detailed version of the circumstances exonerates you and your PHs of any wrongdoing and further criticism.
Again, my apologies for the misunderstanding.

FT

I see nothing wrong with his posts...but that is just my opinion.

And you are entitled to it.

I saw someone jumping to conclusions and essentially raining on someone else's parade with the very first post on a hunt report. I saw a later apology that blamed the hunter for poor information.

I guess I have a reading comprehension problem but I'm standing my ground. It was improper and I don't care who the poster is in the real world.

Frostbit - As I told you in my return PM. I had NO IDEA what the heck you were even talking about, none?? As you can see, I made no negative statements about Miko's lion, and knew nothing about the thread until now. I had to call Lane and ask him what negative post I had made about some Lion from Munyamadzi, as I was totally baffled? I didn't even know of the thread, until Lane told me what the heck you were talking aboutbewildered

I did know about the lion, as Andrew sent me pics of that lion months ago - but nothing seemed wrong to me? I said, good for Miko!

I have since read the thread, and yes, I understand your point. You are correct, Fujo got ahead of himself on that one! Heck, he did that to me too, just last week on the hunts I am offering in TZ. He doesn't seem very good at apologizing, heck at least Miko got one, I never did! Regardless, I'm not sure Fujo meant any real criticism - perhaps he just did a poor job of making his point/apology.

I hear your point about "Hunt Reports" too, and understand your concern. As you know, I took alot of heat over the "wrldhunter" issue from 2011. I apologized for some of my tactics, have since tried to change them, but I make no apology for bringing to the fore-front, an issue that needed full attention. But the fact is, if you post on a Public Forum - you need a little thicker skin than what one sometimes see's here.

Heck man, go look at my Tanzania Hunting thread - in the "Hunts Offered" scetion. Several goof-balls, Fujo included, make all kinds of wrong/insulting/pathetic/insinuating statements & complaints, all without one ounce of fact/knowledge of the issues, as they pertained to the hunts I am offering for sale. In fact, we see that all the time on this particular forum, guys making these useless comments - but never have I seen a thread about "stop" hurting the feelings of, being mean to, or get your facts straight first before posting, as it pertains to the "Hunts Offered" forum, or the original posters?? Why the double standard?

Fact is, if you post anything on the internet - someone could take issue with it. I keep my balls firmly in my pocket, not in my girlfriend's purse - thus my feelings are not hurt easily! Miko didn't seem to be offended, and perhaps Fujo learned a lesson, just as I did?

No one but Fujo would know whether that is the case.

I'll repeat my reason for starting this thread so I can be clear to the forum.....

If you jump on people's hunt reports then the hunt reports are going to lessen in quantity. Pretty simple really.

I humbly suggest that if you have a statement about the potential integrity of someone's hunt maybe a separate thread is in order so those trying to join in the happiness of the hunter as obviously shown by Miko in this case is not soiled by someone else's short sighted assumption.

I left you a phone message Aaron so you could hear that with all the glory of my Philly accent.

This one got to me!!

Guys,
Fujo is a good guy. He made a mistake and made an apology. Maybe it was not up to everyones standards but he did make one.

He is a guy both of you would like. And he is a PH with lion experience.

Start a thread asking Abie DuPlooy to come apologize and see how far you get with that one.

I admit I know Fujo through another very good friend and Fujo and I are friends as well. I just think a mountain is being made of a mole-hill. But carry on...I have said all I can say. nilly

I was considering today that perhaps English not being his first language something was lost in translation. If that's not the case it's somewhat dissingenuous to appologize for something and then end the appology by saying, but what I did was really your fault to the person you were appologizing to...just saying.
