Since I will probably never hunt outside of N America, here would be my (all metric) short list. All in bolt action, the 5mm CF Mag in a M591, the 6.5X55 & 8X57 on VZ500 actions, 280 in M700 CDL & the 8X68sS on an Oberndorf M98K action.
The 5mm CF Mag, 280 & 8X57 I already have, the 6.5X55 & 8X68S are in the works. GOOGLE HOTLINK FIX FOR BLOCKED PHOTOBUCKET IMAGES https://chrome.google.com/webs...inkfix=1516144253810

Using what is in my safe. And remember the original poster said Big game so I am leaving 22lr and varmint out. 1. Custom 257 Roberts AI. 2. Sauer 200 in 30/06 and I won't even try the switch barrel I get more calibers thing. If you let me though I would get to add 6.5x55, .308 and 9.3x62 to the list . 3. Sauer 90 in 8x68S 4. 416 Taylor 5. Kreighoff .470 NE DRSS Kreighoff 470 NE Valmet 412 30/06 & 9.3x74R

He did indeed say BG. 7-08 .338WM If I were gonna shoot a jumbo, I'd add the 416RM or a .458WM, but there's little likelyhood of that happening. If you wanted to do it on the cheap, get a 30-06 and be very careful when hunting the great bears. Aim for the exit hole

22 lr 6,5x55 Target rifle so it doesnt count 270 win 30-40 Krag 35 Whelen 375 H&H I should have had a 223 or something for fox and saving pelt. For my hunting its mostly the sights and how well they can be carried, that limit the usefulness of the different guns

22lr 223 50gr 270W 150gr 338WM 250gr 416Taylor 350gr That gives me plenty of worl-wide coverage and very similar tragectories I have and use all but the 416 Taylor wich is in progres. I may change the 416 to a B&M Michael 458 is doing some good things but the ballistics dont change much. SSR
