Anyone load for a 9.3x64?
|

Nah, but for a x62 bolt rifle & x74R Drilling. The Hornady's work very well in both cartridges as I load them. When I purchased several hundered a coupla years ago at a reasonable price compared to current market influences they were very good value and turned out to be just as accurate and performe well. Can't complain. With the extra Umpf outa your x64 they ought to be just that much more of a good thing IMO. Have fun with them. Cheers, Number 10

I´ve done some loads for the 9.3x64 -great round!- but as I´m at work now I don´t have the stats with me. I´ve only used Vihtavuori powders so depending on were you are that might not ba a good thing. PM if you´d like the data.

I've tried this bullet with N150 in my rifle. About 65-69 grains are ok with me. NB; just a "paper"-load m

Check the #6 Nosler handbook. Check Handloader journal # 147. ($4.95 for that issue on CD from Wolfe Publishing). Check Weiderladen. There are three types of the Weiderladen ("Handloading")manual: Roland Zeitler's, RWS and DEVA. All are very good. Check Ladeboken (Swedish). Check Nick Harvey's Practical Reloading Handbook. Think RL 15, VV N-140 - 150, 4350. All will be revealed.

366Torque... stick a 8x68s reamer in there to make the worlds best 9,3... the new 9,3x68! the 9,3 version of the 375 Ruger! You could improve it to get to 100 grains capacity. It will clean up the 64 chamber and easier to get brass. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

How is 8x68 brass any easier to come by than 9.3x64? RWS makes both, hence the difficulty in finding any. Aut vincere aut mori

I thought 68 brass was more common. Anyhoo a new wildcat would be fun. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

I load for my 9.3x338. When I first got it, I had some RWS 9.3x64 brass and I checked the water capacity, comparing each to the other. As I remember it came to within one grain in weight, but I can't remember which one held more. I have been very pleased with the performance, and rest assured that whatever my wildcat will do basically duplicates whatever the x64 will do. It's just easier for me to find brass, and get my action to feed. So, I've been using the Nosler data for 9.3x64 as my starting place, and comparing to the 358 Norma for powder not shown by Nosler. So far I've been playing it safe, and have used H4895, and RL 15, but I'm thinking of trying some H4350, since I just got an eight pound jug. There's several powders that come to mind that I'm sure will work. These 9.3s are rather flexable that way. The last testing I did was with the Hornady 286gr bullets, H4895 powder at just over 2500 fps, which is a mild load, but it is plenty accurate and fast enough for me. I would probably be happy with that load a long time, but I'm just curious about the H4350. Even the lowly 9.3x57 is an awesome round. The hornady's do very well. I use IMR4064.

I hold my 9.3x57 in high esteem, and I also use IMR 4064. The bullet I like best for it so far is the 250 gr Nosler ballistic tip or accubond, which I'm geting about 2250 fps. I tested the 250 BT with RL15 in the 9.3x338 and got over 2800 fps, but I'm saving those bullets I have left for use in the x57. Once the ballistic tips are used up, obviously the accubonds are available, only they cost more, and at the x57 velocity I doubt they provide more than the ballistic tips. Hey Guys, Yeah, those .366" Nosler 250 gr. BT's were one of Nosler's best efforts right off the bat. They performed wonderfully at the velocities I loaded them in the x62 & x74R; sad to see them go - I've got 5 rounds left for the x74R with them loaded and then they're going the way of the Dodo Bird. I had a lovely Oberndorf Mauser (circa 1920) Sporter in 9x57 in my grubby mitts on the weekend, double set-triggers, ribbed octagon barrel, schnabel tipped fore-end, round pistol-grip & side-panneled stock w/Claw Mounts and a beautifully restored period crystal-clear Hensoldt 4x scope - What a Gem! The Owner (a German) proudly proclaiming that the Mauser plastic buttplate was sourced from the States vice the original melted horn Mauser Buttplate. Gotta love Guys who know their Mausers. We're in the Black Forest next weekend for a shooting match and Friday afternoon is reserved for a private Tour (8 of us) at the Mauser Museum in Oberndorf - can't wait. Cheers, Number 10
