From what I have read the technology is the same as the Speer Gold Dot bullets. The "lead core" is electrochemically plated to the lead, one molecule at a time. I have shot a couple of pigs in the head and recovered one bullet fired into the top of the head at poing blank range[finisher] from a 4" 44 Mag. The 270gr. bullet was recovered in the skin at the throat. The jacket was still"bonded" to the lead.
Federal ammo has a much wider name recognition so that is why it was offered in their product line as opposed to Speer.

One molecule at a time?
That must take all day!
I bond mine about 30 molecules at once. Much more streamlined, and I feel it performs just as well.

Blount sold off the hunting companies to ATK. Blount is doing fine selling chainsaw bars, chains, lawnmowers etc.

Boom Stick, the store where Mark and I bought the ammo has two bonafied riflemen working behind the counter (both of whom are over fifty - grin). Each told me they'd tried the Fusion stuff and couldn't believe how accurate it was. They also mentioned other customer testimony to the same (I mostly discount that tho, LOL). Apparently Federal's doing something right! Also, if you noticed the velocity Mark clocked, that's quite a bit above "non-enhanced" (ie regular) 180 / 30-06 factroy loads... that stuff usually runs in the low 2600's to high 2500's. I'm going to run some of it into wet phone books and see how it hangs...

From what I read, they retain about 70%, and seem to work well on game. Jay

Boom-as Brad mentioned I've shot them a bit in an 06.

In my old M70 they went into .5 to .75 type of groups and in my Dads B78 they went into a bit over an inch. The B78 is a bit picky though.

Speed is good, price is very good and IMO accuracy is very good.

Now we just need about 20 volunteers of the elk persuasion and we'll know how they work...grins

I'd say give them a shot (get it) I do kind of wish they would bring them out in the 223 and the 22/250.

Shoot straight

Actually, over 75% weight retention. And MOA or better from a model 7, 308. From what my "On Target" article says. Jay

I helped my buddy set up his 270 Tikka for Caribou last month and it shot the Fusion into a little over an inch at 200 yards, he shot 2 caribou and both were one shot kills and passthroughs. The other buddy who went with him had similar results with his 300 winnie and the Fusions. Wish I could buy them as components and give 'em a try.

There's a guy around here that did that and had a sliver of the bullet come back and hit him in the face. Hogs have very hard skulls, I shot one at 50 yards w/ a 7RM inbetween the eyes and the bullet deflected out the side of his head buy his eye socket. Just a word of caution.
