I don't know the answer to the question but I do know that Barnes Bullets is now owned by Remington Arms. Good shooting. phurley

Typically a company will not use it's competitors products. However the Barnes bullets are so simple anyone could copy them with a CNC lathe.

yes, they are no longer offering the barnes bullets in the current line-up barnes is NOT owned by remington, it is owned by freedom group, which owns remington.. marlin... hr... bushmaster... dpms.. and others.. HOGWASH that federal wouldn't use "a competitors" bullet -- Winchester, SPEER and NOSLER all sell ammo, and components .. wowie, so did barnees for YEARS...and federal has had no problem selling ammo with those bullets.. making a barnes bullet on a lathe for sale? can you say patent and copyright infringement. opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I think that they changed the name to Trophy Copper. The bullet still looks like a Barnes TTSX to me. I could be wrong, I don't buy much factory ammo. Jeremy

Hogwash no They do not like to use a competitor's product because it puts money in the competitor's pocket. Get a job in the real world and see it for yourself. See if you can really find something that you cannot copy with a CNC lathe that has an enforcable patent. There is nothing on a Barnes bullet that you cannot find a way to make in a different way. There are already a lot of copycat bullets. Can you say Bronze points compared to Ballistic Tips or Nosler Partitions compared to Swift A Frames or Core Lockted to a dozen other designs????

The Trophy Copper has a lead core. Look at the Federal website, there is a cutaway. Freedom Group owns: * Advanced Armament Corporation * Barnes Bullets * Bushmaster Firearms International * Dakota Arms * DPMS Panther Arms * H & R Firearms * Marlin * Mountain Khakis * Para USA * Parker Gunmakers * Remington Arms * Remington Military * Remington LE * Remington PMPD * TAPCO

Cobra, apology, you are correct. Looks a lot like a TTSX. Jorge, grow up and get over it. We have never met nor done any business together. Insults and name calling toward/of someone you know nothing about is senseless and pollutes the site. I am not taking the bait and indulging in a waste of the OPs time. Anyone reading the thread would note that I provided information about the actual ownership of Barnes. If you have issues you would like to discuss, I am listed in Key West, pick up the phone. You should try the Barnes factory loads with the TTSX. They seem to be better groups and have proven to me to be better loads. Here is one that went through about 60" of pig. NRA SCI & DSC 9.3x62 375 H&H 300 H&H 450 Nitro 3.25

Most likely, The freedom group is refusing to sell Barnes bullets to Federal so Remington can start loading them and sell them that way. Barnes bullets were a selling point for federal premium so It's competitor pulled the rug out from under them. Cheers, Jason But what do I know?

I still see the TTSX on the website, but no Barnes Banded Solid. On the bright side, looks like they found a nice alternative for the banded solid - the Woodleigh Hydro. They even made a cap for them so people don't complain about feeding issues. (I checked the 375 H&H, 416 Rem, and 9.3x62) ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris
