It took me a long time to get it done, about four years of gathering parts and finally dropping it off with the smith, I'm very pleased with the result. It is a mrc/lilja, an english blank from dressels, Leupold 2.5-8 in talleys. All the work was done by Arnold Erhardt and I'm completely satisifed and got a lot more than it cost me. The pics aren't the best but that's me.

Very nice rifle. Love the stock it's very close to what I'm looking at for my medium bore. 338-06 is one of the great rounds. Phil Shoemaker said he had a hunter this year that rolled his BB with one shot from a 338-06.

Thanks guys, I really like it. I hope to get shooting very soon.

Wink, I'm not real sure. We talked about what I was looking for in this rifle when I brought the stuff in and after that I left it in his hands for the most part, I didn't even ask for a quote. I've had other stuff done and trusted his judgment that he knew what I was looking for in the rifle and I gave him a idea what I could afford. I wouldn't do this if I hadn't previous experience with him. I have to take it back to have the rear site replaced as he said it shoots to low and he ordered another piece and I can ask him. I'll shoot through the scope untill then.

Thanks for sharing. Very nicely done. May it bring you many good experiences.

The 338-06 cartridge is very slowly creeping into my favorite cartridge spot. I currently own three of them.

I have more 338 caliber bullets than I know what to do with. Smiler

Actually planning on going to the range tomorrow to play with my latest one.

Dempsey, Very nice. Ive seen Dennis's work, now Arnolds. Talked to dennis about a stock pattern awhile back, and found out he doesnt use a duplicator, does it by hand from a blank.

Those boys make nice stocks! and the rest... thumb

Really nice.

What are the advantages of the .338-06 over an '06 or .338?

I hope to get out early on the fourth and shoot it. I hope the range will be empty but who knows it could be a mad house. I don't like to shoot when it's packed, it usually isn't maybe that spoiled me.

paa, thanks. The advantage or disadvantage depending on ones point of view is a source of endless debate. Smiler

Beautiful! Gorgeous piece of wood. Smiler

I just picked up a 338-06 that is a Husqvarna 1900 action rebarreled to 338-06. I had it done by Jarred Rayhill at Jack First Gun Shop in Rapid City. I chose Jarred because he does a very nice job on wood stocks as well as putting together accurate rifles. I kept the original stock which fits very well. I have just started working up loads but have already gotten a .68" three shot group with 225 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. I am still working out other loads, but I am very confident that there will be some more that are as extremely accurate.

Congratulations on your rifle. It appears to be a dream come true.

Very nice!! it's nearly a twin of my 9,3x62 !!
I have the Talley rings the other way round, because I was not able to turn the lever to remove the scope, when I tried to do it the lever touches the piece that allows to release the bolt from the action. I used a mauser 98 action, it seems that with your action you don't have that problem.
Congrats, great rifle and great caliber.
