6.5, the Magpul Industries ahs a considerable amount of "new" offerings which I am beginning to salivate rather profusely over... Nuff said?

OK, their AR-lower, the PMAG 30 rd AR style polymer with caps...

Hope that kicks it off!

It was reported that E R Shaw will have a M-70 clone at the show if you can check it and confirm or other!

A second vote for the status of Remington's double rifle. I just got a 2007 catalog and it is no longer listed. They show a single shot and 2 over/under combos plus single barrel shot guns.

The W.F. Hein new Mauser M98 action with double square bridges. It is meant to be show cased at this 'fair' I think.

The new action comes in two configurations:

Magnum Mauser

G33/40 light weight action

I would be interested in finding out more about these actions.

Shaw will INDEED be offering a M70 type rifle by 3rd or 4th quarter, can order to spec online for 800-1200 total rifle with stock in configuration of choice.

Sorry did not get by Mag-pul booth. \

DID go by Remington booth, see comments re: Remington, they completely Disgusted me! They are ARROGANT, IGNORANT, and Selfish ....astards in my opinion. I will refuse to buy any future Remington products save for any brass or similar that I may be forced if no option is available. DID look for the 4570, did not see one, or the SPR22.

DID check out the new 700/M7 triggers, much better, but nothing I can't do in a few minutes to an old one.

TC has a Winner guys in their new bolt, SLICK, SWEET, action NICE, build quality and finish NICE, BUT only in 243, 308, and 30TC for right now. Others to follow I am told, it is a 3 lug action and VERY reminiscent of an older off the beaten path action I have seen in the reference book, "bolt action rifles' and I mentioned it but did not get a DIRECT answer if it were a copy or based on a previous action and I spoke to the head honcho who designed it, or was supposed to have done so.

About Hein, did not get posts before leaving for the 11th, and did not see them.

Steyr cancelled, all other major gun/optic companies there, NICE stuff to see. Asked Sig Sauer about 10mm pistol, and the answer was a 'cocky one' from the guy who makes decisions. I guess when you are as big as Sig and Remington, the guys get 'cocky' but after going in the ring with a few remington personnel, I can tell you they will get VERY little to none of any of my hard earned dollars in the past.

They truly care little about what consumers want. NOW, What impressed ME greatly, the Ruger personnel LISTENED and CARED about what all I suggested and had to say, AND they were taking notes as told by higher up as they were having a meeting later the 1st morning about feedback their customers are telling.

Savage also is listening and responding and I hope BOTH steal market share from Remington. Those REM guys really make me sick. I have NO respect for them or the company. They really showed ZERO concern for the needs/wants of the hard core shooting public. Funny how they tout 'most accurate rifle out of the box' and fail to cater to what the serious shooters are having to build to use for hunting and competition.

I am with Seafire on that one, I will just be building in the future anything I want if a NON Remington substitute is not to be had.

Oh, just read the post/comments on the ICON, nice info, they as you all may know was just purchased by S&W for 102 MILLION dollars! They likely are going head to head with Remington, cannot wait! Hornady is backing, and by the way, look in the future for a 270 on the 30TC platform, about 120 gr, YES, 120 grain that is said to do 3150 or so fps and perform like a 130-150 from what I am told.....interesting. They DO use special powders with 15% vs 7-8% Nitro, and other properties exclusive right now at the option of the powder companies, it is a ball propellant.

Personally, I think the 308 and rounds on that case are fine, but the new TC rounds will use about 45 gr, so less powder recoil, etc, longer barrel life. The 'honcho' at Hornady commented the 'industry' not long ago was coming out with WAY too many useless, OVER -powered cartridges that no one enjoys shooting, and they likely figured out, more recoil, less rounds at the range= less ammo purchased.

I think the TC round might be to differentiate themselves from all the surplus/cheap ammo in 308. The lever 30 cal does around 2660 with 160-165 at 45k pressure, not bad, but I have no interest in a lever, other than perhaps a BLR, by the way, there is now a TAKE down BLR, open the lever, pull a lever under the forearm, and pull the barrel right out, little POI change from what I was told, VERY tight tolerances. Neat, to be seen how much use, but it may have a place, very compact when taken down.

Hey cool! I've been sitting on a box of NBT's, since they cancelled production. Now I think I'll give them away.

6.5BR,
It took you this long to figure out Remington? Razzer I've had a self-imposed veto of their products since 2005 ... its cost them a RemSPS in 308Win (bought a Stevens instead), a Rem700VLS (bought a Savage VLP-S instead), Rem673 (Ruger MkII in 350RemMag instead). Cheap CoreLokt projectiles ... I buy AX instead.
I only purchase their brass when I have no choice.
I buy Rem700 S/H only now.
Cheers...
Con

You know Con, I have posted about my beef with Rem MANY times before, and thought I would go by their booth to see if they got their heads out of you know where, and got a little humbled, perhaps when more people buy a quality Howa, Sako/Tikka, Browning, and the new TC's, and yes, Savage, Rem will wake up some.

They really could care less and I concur, I bought a Ruger 350 also, liked the gun, but my buddy borrowed it, first time out WAXED a large whitetail, largest on his property, another bang/flop deer and hog later, you would have heck getting it back, so he bought it from me!

I can live w/o Rem as they do not deserve nor appreciate me as a customer. They think they don't need me, so when more people like us change how we spend, they might listen, but they won't win me back. That was their LAST opportunity and they truly blew it. They all seemed like ....sses if you want the truth.

What is AX?

I do know this, I like the 222 and 221 over the 223, just never had one that impressed me, but the HOWA just showed a new 20" with Green syn. stock and it looks NICE, about half or less I am sure than a 20" Rem HB.

IF I buy another 223 HB in a bolt, I believe I am getting a Howa 20" and have confidence it will do very well. Howa always impressed me as a smooth, strong, very well finished quality rifle. Barrels were very smooth also.

Speaking of which, another MAJOR arms maker has approached Ruger in hopes Ruger would produce barrels for them. Their new barrels made in house are much better than in the past.

Hey torque, what is wrong with the 9.3's B tips? Bullets that big should flatten anything!

Thanks BR, quite informative as well as an appreciation of your perspective re: Big Green. History is just repeating itself as they follow what GM and Ford have done to themselves. Look to smaller companies like T/C and the re-birth of S&W to see where American business and retail success will be found.

6.5BR,
AX is a brand name of ammunition and components. The brass itself is stamped PPU which was/is Sellier & Bellot (?) I think its made in the former Yugoslavia. Their projectiles and brass sell cheaper than the bulk lot Remington CoreLokt projectiles/brass over here.
Cheers...

308sako: After seeing what S&W spent-102mil for TC, wondering what will happen to the quality control, I can tell you, both booths were slammed with people.

TC ICON WOOD is NICE! Did I say NICE!

Update on Winchester for those interested, the closing of the 1 plant that shut down the M70 and 94 lever was involving the UNION, and the stipulation was that NO production could begin again for 2 years. SO, there is talk that there WILL be forthcoming, or expecting, more bolt/lever rifles, but where they are made (stamped) is yet to be determined, of course those deals would be 'inside info' and is illegal if a public co. but since FN owned Browning/Win seems to me we might see FN/Miroku Japan on future M70's, etc. Time will tell, but I would not be surprised to see things turn in 2008.

Thanks Con, not sure if AX is sold in the U.S. or not.

By the way, I empathize with US workers, but the higher ups at Ford and Chevy DID do it to themselves.

Quality sells, and Quality begs REPEAT sales and loyal customers. Leupold is a great example of building brand loyalty.

I also want to say, Bushnell is coming on strong, nice people, great products, good value. I like what they are doing, and their prices vs others. The Burris Euro scopes were Nice, but the power change was TIGHT.

I did not look for long at what was new, but there is a 6-24x 4200 with side focus and 50mm obj. that is new, I have a side focus same scope but 40mm, it is nice, very short compared to older 4200's.

Both mil dot's, the 50mm model has TALL knobs same look as the 10x 3200 mil dot sniper model.

They now have 'ELITE' binos, NICE glass, but the price reflects, I think the legend are the best buy but I have Pentax 8x32 now, happy.
