i have been doing some reseach into the newtons and how it compares the the 375 ruger... the "western" 30 and 35 newtons measured .528" at the base the measured 375 ruger measures .529" granted the shoulder position and caliber is different but my, my, my... the advantage is to make 30 and 35 newtons from the 375 ruger brass which i have one here thanks to white bison. question is case capacity of the "renewtonized" 30 and 35's... per frank martinez... 350 Rigby Magnum 91.25 Gr. water 358 Norma 87.57 Gr. 8x68 (S) Magnum 86.54 Gr 9,3x64 Brenneke 87.04 Gr. 35 Newton 92.56 Gr. 35 Whelan improved 73.58 Gr. 358 Barnes Supreme 100.90 Gr. From 300 H H case the 375 ruger capacity is 101.5 grains from what i gather you will lose 5% capacity reforming the 375 to 35 newton. that leaves us with a 96 grain capacity for the 35 newton and say 94 grains for the 300. the 300 win mag is 92.5 grains with its added length so you could use the data for starting loads. so the 300 win and the 300 newton would be separated by 30 fps at the same preasure but the 35 newton would be off the 375 ruger by not much...but what you can gather is a 2% or 60 fps performance leap over the 358 norma. not much but it is safe to say that the 35 newton will be having a nice popularity boost thanks to ruger. the exciting thing is that we now can easily have a "perfect" 35 shooting 280 grain aframes @ 2750 fps. and 225's @ 3000 now who wants to make a 338 newton? this is fom another post... Bear Claw. I have tried to send you e-mail regarding a couple of other topics to you default address. I spoke last week to Marc Jamison of Jamison International. He has a set of Western Cartridge Co. prints for the 30 and 35 Newton. They list the base as being .528, length to shoulder 2.02 and 2.04 respectively, diameter at shoulder .502 and shoulder angle of 24 degrees. All this is from memory, and not at all what you find in most references, but Marc's number is (605) 347-5090. I have been trying to get together an order for a run of basic brass on the head size for those of us that have original rifles, and of people that want to wildcat. A 2.675" case with a 9.3mm bullet would be one hell of a proprietary round that wouldn't require altering a magnum bolt face. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Boomie, sounds like an "Ultimate" 9,3mm. Just the ticket for a P17, rebore the barrel, clean up the feed rails, and open up the boltface. JMHO Rich DRSS | |||
