For my Wyoming antelope hunt and Montana Mule Deer hunt, my 7 mag FN mauser with 140 grain ballistic tips. It has a 4.5-14 scope with double set triggers, so it's setup nice for long range shots.

For my close in deer lease (less than an hour away and the shots are all close) probably my 8x57 Mauser or my 308 Tikka.

For our big remote annual lease, my 308 Tikka and 300 RUM (there are some long shot opportunities on sheep and elk). I might take the 7 mag instead of the 300 RUM. I'm also itchin' to shoot a hog with my 10mm pistol or in the ear with my 17 HMR bolt action.

For deer in WV will be trying a suppressed AR in 300 WTF if I can get the load workups done in time after the can arrives. Also likely to try a 6.8.

Will use the same rig with a night scope in Texas for piggies as well as a .376 Steyr. For deer, if I can afford the license I will use a 6.8 or a 9,3x62 with normal optics.

Interesting tread Smiler

On this side of the pond on the smallish critters, I will be using my Kimber Montana in 308 Win, loaded with 150 grn Nosler PT.
Scope is Zeiss Victory 2-10x50.

For red deer and low light hunting, most likely my M77 35 Whelen loaded with 225 grn Sierra GK.
Scope is Zeiss Victory 3-12x56 with ill. reticle.

So exept from the scopes, you´ll se that I´m pretty much "Americanized" in my gun taste Big Grin

For under 100 yards in good lighting I'll be using the 8x57 with irons with 160gr TTSX. For longer range or low light opportunities it'll be what ever jumps out of the safe. So could be 30-06, 300 RUM or 375H&H. Can't use too much gun for those pesky blacktails! old

For years now I have had a desire to take a deer with each of my rifles
Tikka M590LH in 6mmBR with 87gn BTHP Hornadys

Sako 75 IV left hand in 6.5x55 with 120gn Sierra PH or 129gn Interlocks

Sako 691L in 7x57 with either 140gn GMKs or 139gn Interlocks.

Haven't managed to do it yet, maybe this is the year to do it...

Best wishes,

I've really warmed up to this old rifle in the last couple of years and was lucky enough to have a whitetail present itself for a shot last year. Turns out that ol' rifle will stop em just as good as any of the super duper new rifles or shotguns I have used in the past. That K31 is probably my favorite gun in the rack, just something about it puts a smile on my face every time I cycle the action.

Well this year for Deer and Elk season I will carry my .257 Roberts.
Its a M96 Mauser commercial action with a 3 position safety and a timney trigger 23" Pac Nor Super Match Ultra Light barrel in my own version of a re shaped stock with a schnabel. In the last few years it has accounted for several Antelope and a nice Mule Deer buck. It is pin point accurate with 117 Sierra SPBT's and IMR-4350 going about 2825 FPS.
So far no recovered bullets all pass throughs and just about everything drops on the spot.
Its become one of my favorite rifles.

Dunno what I'll be using. It all depends on whether Arizona will cut loose with a damned deer tag. No elk or antelope tag again and I haven't seen a deer tag in 4 years. No elk ag in 6 years and in the 33 years I've been here I've never drawn for antelope. Mad
Maybe my luck will change as the wife decided she wanted to hunt this year so we're together on the application. If she draws then I get one too. Wink

Here in the NE, shooting meat deer is like clubbing flies...and if you want to, you can shoot 10-20 legally with all the various seasons, gun, bow, black powder, etc. Probably shoot two with a 6.5x55.

Probably go with the new Sako A-7 in .243 Win with Nosler 95 gr Ballistic Tips for Montana deer and (hopefully) antelope. For Washington state, I will probably carry my Model 70 Super Shadow in .270WSM with 140 gr Nosler Accubonds for deer. Both loaded with Accurate Data 86 powder, sort of a cannister 3100.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

I probably will have changed my mind a half dozen times before season arrives but, as of now, my .358 M.70 or BLR. It will be loaded with cast bullets of either 200 or 225 grains and muzzle velocity from 1900 to 2000 fps.

And getting back on the subject, I'll be toting my Kimber 8400 in 7mm WSM.

I will be using a Blaser R-93 semi-weight in 308, and a R-93 Tracker in 9.3x62, and a custom Encore in 9.3x74R, and a ULA 50 cal muzzleloader, and a BBF97 12 ga over 308.

My problem is that I have too many guns and not enough tags.
