What do you think are the best bullets to penetrate any angle on a deer including texas heart shot, but that will still expand also? Will be shooting these in a 270WSM "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

The North Fork bullets in either 130 grain or 150 grain will do the job very nicely. Bonded core front and solid rear shank. You might say a better engineered TBBC, that is very accurate in my WSM. Good shooting. phurley

I have seen 130 Nosler Partitions penetrate in the front and out the back on a couple medium size whitetails, so I expect any of the partitions (130-160) would do similar work in the WSM. -Lou

The barnes Triple Shock is one of the best. It also has a better BC than most of the other tough bullets.

I've not tried the TSX, but the good ole NP & NorthForks are great expanders & still reach from most any angle IMHE. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Barnes triple shock is hard to beat & readily available.

Have you thought about the 140 Accu Bonds? Those Texas deer are pretty easy to shoot through from any angle. The AB would be Expansive yet, hold up plenty on that type of animal. Good Luck! Reloader

The TXS are extremely accurate and will penetrate further than any lead core bullet. They also kill very well whether the game is large or small _____________________________________________________ A 9mm may expand to a larger diameter, but a 45 ain't going to shrink Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. - Winston Churchill

Obviously the NorthFork is a good choice, but I have experience with the 130 TSX in my 270. It will blow right through a quartering deer and your WSM will push the bullet even faster. You may consider bumping to the 140 in the WSM. As far as the 140 Accubond, I am very pleased with their accuracy but rather disappointed with their performance on mule deer. I wouldn't hesitate to use a NBT at any angle, but I try hard to get broadside shots.

I will be using a 270WSM for Saskatchewan deer this year and I am using the 140gr Accubond. I believe I have enough bullet from any angle. bigbull

Gidday Guys, Why the hell do you guys take a Texas heart shot when you can just aim over the back and put the shot through the back of the neck. If you go low you drop into the spine which will put him down on the spot. If you go high it goes into the back of the head. Any lateral movement is a clean miss which means no need to track a wounded beastie which may or may not be found. I may be wrong but it works for me. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has had a failure with my system. Happy Hunting Hamish

Another vote for the TSX. I must however, agree with Hamish on the Texas heart shot. I have made shots on bedded mule deer in that manner, where a TX heart shot was not an option anyway.
