As you may know, Federal has been offering this bullet loading, the 225 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, in their Premium level 35 Whelen ammo. I questioned Speer concerning offering this bullet as a reloading component and recieved a reply today. Speer's reply was that this bullet will soon be offered to reloaders. I take this as good news. Some folks here on AR have reported good success with that bullet in the Federal factory ammo. I know I will be looking forward to trying this bullet in my 35 Whelen on game when it is offered. I a=m currently loading with the 225 Sierra Gameking in the Whelen. The accuracy is pretty exceptional. Still, if the Speer 225 will be equally as accurat, I could try it. I have not personally used that bullet, so take this for what you feel it is worth. After my experiences with the North Fork bullets, they are my first, last and only choice in my 358 Norma. The 250 grainer is simply perfect. Reasonably priced, and ridiculously accurate, I can't think of a reason to use any other bullet. Okay, maybe I'm a wee bit prejudiced.  | |||

Boom Stick, Yes, Mark Twain was a pretty smart guy. RickF, I understand what you are saying. I shoot a 35 Whelen and my only hunting bullet for the past 6 years has been the 225 gr Barnes X in one form or another. For the 35 Whelen, the 225 grain Barnes bullet, IMO, is a very good balance of power, recoil, trajactory and penetration. It opens early in a soft skin beast yet holds together very well on the bigger stuff. That being said, if I never tried anything new, I would never get better. And based upon the recommendations of the posts on this forum of hunters who have tried the 225 TBBC on Federal ammo, I believe they are worth a try. I've used TBBC 225 gr (Still have some of the old ones - Pre-Speer) in my 350 Rem Mag. Great accuracy and performance on several species of African plains game out of my Blaser R93 (barrel rebored and rechambered from 308). Good news to know that they are coming out again.
