In a recent article, it was said that Federal is producing the 370 Sako Mag which is like the European counterpart, the 9.3 x 66 Sako Mag. Can any-one tell me if they are the same and interchangeable ?? as Sako firearms only list the metric 9.3 x 66 and have no reference of the 370 Sako. Can any-one please clear up this abnomily. Cheers from Australia "Travel Light, Travel Fast and carry a Big Bore"

Latest edition of "Sports Afield" lists Federal as making ammo for the 370 Sako and it IS the 9.3X66. Boddington is taking one to Africa this year to whack a few buff evidently. Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!! Blair.

FWIW - Craig Boddington, in the most recent issue of Sports Afield, says that he will be hunting cape buffalo with the 370 later this year in conjunction with an article he is writing.

Because the long Sako action can room it, and it gives the same as the '64 with more rounds in the magazine. Why, Oh Why did they go with the 9,3 instead of the .375? Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

Hopefully a source for brass will available. In speaking with Federal, they won't be offering it to the public. $90 a box is pretty steep otherwise.

Hi Boom Stick, This is what happens when you get old.... do you agree that both the 9.3 x 66 Sako and the the 370 Sako Magnum are EXACTLY the same except for their country of origin and the way they like to be described. Thanks again, Jeff Gray "Travel Light, Travel Fast and carry a Big Bore"

Mr. Gray, Yes - the 9.3x66 Sako and the 370 Sako Mag. are the exact same cartridges. Sako and Beretta merely changed the head-stamp for the American market and the Sako 85 rifles that are going to be imported here will carry the "370 Sako Magnum" designation. I purchased a chamber reamer in 9.3 Sako and had the same concerns as you and ended up contacting Federal, who is producing the ammunition here. All case dimensions are the same and the ammunition will be interchangeable, although the Sako brand of ammo will still be tough for us Yanks to find.

Hi Pinotguy, Thank you very much for clear and concise information. If you are doing a lot of big stuff all the time you get the opportunity of learning as you go but with me I try to get it Black and White if you know what I mean. ( And yes, I am aware if you mix those two colours together you get Grey ) Ha Ha.. Anyway thanks again, it was greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jeff Gray "Travel Light, Travel Fast and carry a Big Bore"

You'd just kind of hope that something isn't lost in the translation from metric to imperial. US 6.5x55 brass has been made incorrectly spec'd, also pretty sure we ended up with a 22PPC and 22PPC-USA with slightly different specs, likewise you hear 284 based Lapua and Winchester brass are slightly different spec. What a can of worms metric to imperial designations can be!! Cheers... Con

One would think Scandinavians would get a hint. Nobody wants their new kalibers. The only one that has good following is 6,5x55 and that's an ole' one.
