Remington Model 600 350 Mag coming my way!

drewhenrytntRemington Model 600 350 Mag coming my way!
Had one years ago and recently found another. Should be here next week. Best part is the round count. Documented by the original owner 200 shots fired! Rifle is in excellent condition. As much as I enjoyed shooting 225 and 250 grainers in the past, I discovered CEB has a 175gr Raptor and I can't wait to try it out!

boom stickWould love to hear results of the Raptor!

scottfromdallasI didn't see any .358 Raptors listed on their website. I saw a 175 .338 listed. As an alternative Barnes makes a TTSX in 180 and 200 in .358.
Congrats on the score. I picked up a Ruger 350 about a year ago.

BigNateI've always thought if I found one like you're describing I'd buy it. I picked up a 600 years ago as a beater in .308W and still use it a lot. It's probably the handiest rifle for larger stuff I own. Other than the model '94, it's still one of the most immitated. Rem came out with the model 660, seven, Ruger the Scout, even the Browning Micro Medallion.

drewhenrytntThe next one will be the hardest to find. The model 600 was also chambered in very limited numbers in 35 Rem. Those are scarce as hens teeth, but there are a few out there.
I WANT ONE!

wsjCool! Never had a 600 but did have a 660 (in 243) that I foolishly traded. I now have the 350 in a 700 Classic, which isn't a 600 for 'cool factor' but probably more usable for me. Congrats! -WSJ

Palladin8I certainly like my Model 7 in 350 Rem Mag. It's pretty darn accurate.

Michael did the testing already on the terminal performance thread. I'm sure you can place an order if you call.

MidgetIdjitJust returned from Zimbabwe where I used the Raptors in my 350RM.
Using 64gr of Ramshot TAC, I'm getting ~3035 fps in my 22" model 700.
1 shot kills on everything. Kudu at 90 yards dropped in its tracks. Zebra at 215 yards took a couple steps before collapsing. (Entered just behind the left shoulder, blew the heart almost in half, and exited through the right shoulder.)
The TAC load is compressed. I'm going to experiment with a faster burning powder to see if I can avoid the compression and maybe get a bit more velocity.
As a side note, my backup load was the 200gr TSX @ 2940fps.

I have had a few, they are not easy to find but out there. I had one that was almost new in box but had cut it for a marbles peep site. It was an accurate sucker.

64gr of TAC is a MAX listed load in the Barnes manual. I would probably try H322 next followed by VIT N130. Dan told me these bullets need faster burning powders to realize their potential. Not sure what approach I would take if those powders were not fast enough. I'll be working with an even shorter barrel-18 inches.
Midget-were you tipped or not?

scottfromdallasThanks Boom Stick, I'll have to give them a try. Raptors are impressive and I always worry about the quality of any company once Cerebrus buys them (Barnes).

Yes, that is a max load. I'm showing no pressure signs in either of my rifles. Obviously others may see different results.
I did install the tips on the Raptors to improve the BC. A friend experienced the wind drift associated with the non-tipped bullets and I didn't want to worry about it. The downside is that the bullet eats up a fair amount of case capacity.
Dan suggested I try IMR-3031 or Benchmark and they're on my list to pick up. Reloder-7 is also an option.

boom stickA 35 Whelen should push those 175 Raptors @ 2,900FPS and the 350 Rem Mag about 3k and make these carts a new animal for Elk size game.
I'd like to see a 200 grain version too for 1 in 12 or faster twist barrels too to give virtually identical performance as the 210 grain 9,3. With the ogive tip to maximize BC and velocity.
When I think 35 Whelen and 350 Rem Mag I think Brown Bears and I'd want a 200 grainer for those carts when in brown bear territory.

DivernhunterI have a Rem Mohawk 600 that I got new many years ago. I had customized by a professional gunsmith and stock made to look like the Rem model 7. But mine was done about 5+ years before the model 7 came out. It has had the trigger worked over and glass bedded with a Leupold 2X7 scope. I had it mag-n-ported which really helped muzzle flip and recoil without making it kill my ears. I took a couple of animals with it and it has been a safe queen for many years.
I now think I will sell it to help pay for my African trip next year. Any ideas on the value?
